“So I guess this is goodbye.” It came out as a question rather than a statement. She hoped that maybe, with any hint of luck, the brunette would shake her head and come running back into her arms.
But of course this was reality.
And with arrivals will come departures.
She bit her lips as she trailed her eyes down the brunette’s body, memorizing every feature in fear of forgetting how she looked like. She noticed a slight tremble as tiny goosebumps began to form on the slender arms she knows so well. It took all of her strength to suppress the urge to wrap her arms around the leaving woman.
Memories came gushing back into her head, filling her with a mixture of emotions. Together, the two have experienced it all.
Love.
Happiness.
Anger.
And of course, sorrow.
“Jessica…”
She flinched at the mention of her name. She’s heard that voice so many times before. It was the first of every mornings and the last of every nights. She could recognize it and the lips that whisper it in any condition that she was in.
And despite the angry tone and the bitter words that spewed out, she loved-no.
She loves that voice.
And she’s going to love that person for the rest of her life.
