It's no secret that i've been wanting to meet Calvin Johnson for a long time. The guy created one of my favorite record companies (K Records) and is/was in two bands that I love dearly (Beat Happening and the Halo Benders). He'd hate to hear me say it, but he's something of a hero to me... and I don't use that word lightly. So this weekend was

It's a small world after all. I'm going to be in Bloomington this weekend for a wedding. I imagine that I'll see some of the Secretly Canadian fellows. My girlfriend started college at IU at roughly the same time as those guys. She was friends with them and worked in a campus cafeteria with them as they were planning the beginnings of Secretly Canadian. It's amazing that they've come as far as they have since then. I think it's fantastic that they're making a pretty good go of it in a ridiculously fickle industry. The fact that their smart, decent people is a nice plus as well.

I lived in Bloomington off and on for around five or six years, and it is a great town. That said, I don't miss it at all. There are a LOT of cool towns out there. I've been fortunate enough to live in four of them so far (Bloomington, Austin, Boulder and Ann Arbor...) I hope to live in each of the 524 other cool places in the US before I move on to the cool ones in the rest of the world.

Damn. I need to move soon. I'M ALMOST 30!

yesterday i wandered around bloomington and ate at chocolate moose and pretended you were still there. i have been so mopey this weekend, although its good to be home. bleh.

and i think i may be able to make an entry soon, although i feel so horribly stupid i dont know what to write.
