I had a very good time at the event. The sun was shining, I got to spend some nice time with friends, see very cool Arts stuff, see deserving people get recognition, admire babies, meet new people, and eat lots of really yummy food

1. I aquitted myself very well with various "lifeguard assistant" skills that were an unexpected large component of the aquatic training workshop last weekend. I quickly mastered the skills and passed the tests (we were required to learn Y-based variations, vs. the Red Cross methods I'm familiar with). It was rather awesome to realize that, in our

Last night's rain was heavy and the wind gusts were very strong. On 495 and 93 on my way home from the Y, the traffic was going 45mph, and should probably have been going even slower because of roadway flooding and poor visibility

Over the weekend, I saw one of the Master swimmers doing vertical flutter kicks (like treading water in place with a flutter kick, with arms raised out of the water). She was timing herself and really huffing and puffing. It looked like a very good leg strengthening exercise for me

A slight aquaintance from another department noticed that I didn't have my usual salad for lunch yesterday and made a point to ask me the reason today, in front of several of her co-workers. (I've lost weight since I've worked here and people, including this group, sometimes comment on that. I try to just say thanks and move on, don't encourage
