It was a dark and stormy night, and I was in heaven!

So, last weekend...the weekend of the storm, Marti went down to Boston to visit a friend. So it was just going to be me, the cats and dogs for the weekend, and I was going to be left to my own devices. I anticipated getting some art and perhaps some reading done. Friday evening after work I spent getting ready for the weather... bringing in lots ( Read more... )

I love your literal interpretation of "shelf" mushroom. How did you mount it on the wall, if I may be nosy?

Of course you may be nosy! Mounting it was the most difficult part of the whole thing, and I intend to come up with a better way for this next 'shelf" shroom. But for this one, I screwed 2 screws into the wall, then cut their heads off at an angle with a Dremel tool, thus making 2 spikes, and I then just impaled the shelf on the spikes.

BTW Lupa... I infuse the mushrooms with resin before making them into shelves, and only certain types of mushrooms seem to take the resin ( Bolete mushrooms do NOT take to the resin). Just thought I would mention this in case you were thinking of finding a big shelf shroom and just sticking it to your wall... which would gain you a huge slimy mess on your wall after a few days. :) Although a dried Beefsteak shelf shroom might work without the need for resin, but I have yet to find one of those that is large enough. Cheers!

It was a lovely if rather alarming storm. That I can remember, it hasn't snowed in October since I moved to the area, at least not in the city.

I'm glad that you enjoyed some quiet time, and am glad that you are well and back in communication.
