Vampyric flora and the Furry Apocalypse...

So, a few weeks ago I walked into our local lumber yard, and said “I need 600 linear feet of red cedar clapboarding, 10 6x6x18 foot landscaping timbers, 60 feet of number 2 clear pine, and 200 sq feet of Tyvek.” To which the person at the lumber yard replied “Ah, your mom must be visiting again ( Read more... )

That's to bad about wildfire. I plan to hit up the September wild fire for the time to figure out how to use my rope dart. :( Good luck with the house full of insane cats! I'm living with an insane kitten myself and even in this heat she has enough energy to be an asshole.

Ah! it figures that the Wildfire you plan to get to.. I will probably miss. SIGH.

Anyway, do be sure to be logged onto your computer and buy your ticket the Second they go on sale... they tend to sell out in 4-6 minutes, and you'll be competing with several hundred hippies all madly hitting the Refresh button on their computers. :)

The rope dart teachers at Wildfire are usually pretty damn good... and they do have some Videos out there, sort of a brief version of their classes. I can also recommend a good book or two if you feel like learning that way.

And be prepared for bruises and rope burns... Rope dart is one of what the Chinese call "Self correcting" weapons. :)

I hope you are doing well dear lady!?

I am more than a little concerned that the folks at the lumber yard can figure out when your mother is visiting. Does she do as much construction work on her own home as she does on yours?

May your troublesome new(ish) cats soon settle down and let you have some peace and quiet ...

Heh, actually... my mom does the least amount of construction on my house! My parents own three houses, my brother own one house and I own one house. So, my mother ( who is 73), spends a lot of her time, buying material for, and then doing the work herself, on my brother's house, because he is in South Korea. She then travels between their 3 houses ( 2 in Minnesota, and one in South Carolina), and does what work needs to be done on them. So, I think one of the reasons my mom is so generous with buying supplies and such for my house, is that she does not have to do the work herself!

And I was very sorry to hear about your recent "need to move" troubles and all dear! I hope that who situation resolves with a minimum of difficulty, as I know moving is one of the worst things to have to do in the world! At least, I think it is. Big hug to you love!

Goodness. I hope I'm up for doing heavy duty home maintenance work when I'm 73 (and have learned more about how than I know now ...). That's a lot of time on the road for her, too, with three states to visit regularly.

Thank you. One place I saw today and one I hope to see tomorrow look very promising, but this is possibly the worst time of year to be looking around here, and apartments are moving very quickly.
