I didn't even think of this before, but you can have my best friend Jenn! She's in Guelph too and a hometown Oshawa girl! She's really sweet and unpretentious, but not very scene - she could use some major lessons in music if you know what I mean.
Anyway, she's doing envirometrics (environmental science and math (yuck)) at Guelph. I'll hook you up with her email address if you'd like!

Hummm... I may have to take you up on this offer. I don't really mind if people need major music lessons.. heck! she could sit in on the ones I am giving Michelle (she's only really missed Lesson #1 -- Phish are gross).

Do you know the Action Grrrlz group? (Um, they were profiled in Shameless Issue 1, but I swear, that's not why I'm plugging them.) They have a Guelph chapter now, run by the original Action Grrrlz founders from Toronto (Michele and Sarah). They're super-nice ladies and might introduce you to more super-nice ladies.

so apparently we were supposed to trade music at some point?
we met 2 summer's ago at an aMy party... i was just doing this who's commented on your journal meme and i was checking out who i didn't recognize.
hope some of the suggestions from previous posters turn up some new friends..i don't konw anyone in guelph or i'd pass on the info.
