Oh, my poor darling! You have had a couple of horrible weeks and no mistake! *pat pat*

Probably all for the best with the show, you being that sick and all; things could have gone much much worse for you had you gotten the part and the stress of preparing and performing with being sick, possibly quite seriously sick, and all. As I'm sure you know. And my daughter Lucy2905 had horrible problems with her ears, from the time she was tiny, most recently a few years ago when she was away at school and ended up with both inner and outer ear infections in both ears at the same time. She was miserable, the poor dear; spend most of a week alternating resting each ear on a heating pad. Ow ow ow.

In summary: oh, my poor darling! *pat pat*

Thanks Ann. I'm still miserable about missing the show, although my friend has suggested a G&S society in Bakewell we could join, so we could just see how that goes. But I'm off to Wales tomorrow, and I'm definitely looking forward to that (Hannah will actually make me go to bed at highly respectable time, which will be a good thing.)

I missed my consultants appointment today, which is bad (missed my train and when I did catch the relevant bus, I hadn't enough change on me), but I'm positive I am better, I'll go to the GP's when I come home from Wales just so as he can look and make sure.

I don't remember about Annie's ears, actually. I came in at gallstones, and mortgages.

*Gigglesnort* Those were grown-up problems. You missed all the younger-person problems. Unless they decide to recur as grown-up problems. Hope they don't!

Ugh, that just sounds miserable, your ear problems! I always find it kind of mystifying that an ear infection could be so potentially serious. But of course they're sort of influential on everything in your head, aren't they?

Hurrah for your Auntie Ann looking after you! She sounds quite sensible, re:instant cous-cous not actually being a meal and giving you fruit-covered ice cream. Ice cream is very sensible, when you feel awful. It's nice to have someone to look after you when you're ill, especially someone you've known forever. :)

I hope your ear's feeling much better now; I suppose if you're going to Wales, it's probably not giving you much trouble. Treat it gently! :)

Auntie Ann, I just found out, was also fretting about my having to go to greater Manchester (Stockport is kind of a suburb) on the day that the riots kicked off there, though fortunately that was nowhere near Stockport and the appointment was in the morning anyway.

I had a nice time in Wales, yes (I tried not to let the sea breeze blow straight into my ears, but it had no ill-effects anyway.)

I suppose all the tubes in your head link up somewhere; and your ear canal tucks right in near your brain, so yeah... mind you I think what I suffered from was just how violently it reacted to the germs. I think the thing was that a lot of shed cells and mucus from the reaction were just getting dumped in the ear canal and couldn't get out; hence the fact that having it vacuumed helped so much.

Your proximity to riots is an excellent thing to fret about, I must say. And I am, of course, jealous of your trip to Wales. I don't have the ocean OR any landscape half as lovely anywhere nearly as close.

OMG I forgot to WARN YOU, before you went to Wales, that there would be crazy American Baptists there, out to proselytize the Welsh!

NO REALLY. My BOSS'S church went on a "mission trip"....to WALES. I seriously just cannot wrap my head around the idea of Americans going to Wales to EVANGELIZE. Last time I checked, the Welsh KNOW ABOUT JESUS. You know, thanks to the Romans. WTF.

LOL well you wouldn't actually want to evangelize to people who wouldn't already speak perfect English and didn't know all about what was actually in the Bible, would you? That would be a really difficult way to make yourself feel righteous...

Oh, yes, they do indeed. (Actually, the girl I stay with is a devout Christian, but she's pretty cool about it.) Your boss's church would have found lots of like-minded people there, and they've also met lots of American missionaries before. They seem to mostly get invited to go evangelise at Christian meetings and in church. Yeah...

(Actually, we also had a mission come to our school who evangelised to us, and played rock guitar to us. 'Cos we don't know about that either, it seems.)
