[History]
Hansuke was raised as an only child-his mother had a hard time getting pregnant and they’d just about written off having children as a lost cause before Hansuke came along. As a young child, he was encouraged to go out for sports and to be active in various amateur acting troupes.
When he was six, he was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, and underwent treatment for approximately two years before he entered remission. For the next five years, he’s been back to the hospital for blood tests every month, but the cancer never returned and Hansuke is considered officially ‘cured.’
The Itagakis have lived in the same neighborhood for decades and are a well-known and well-liked family in general. The only out of the ordinary thing to happen to the family is Hansuke’s cancer scare.
[Appearance]
Hansuke is 5’5’’ and fairly thin and wiry. He has chin-length dark hair that frames his face, a cute smile, and wide, dark eyes. He’s attractive, but he tends to look boyish. He usually wears clothes that are somewhat baggy, because he doesn’t really like his body and finds form-fitting clothes embarrassing. He’s not very athletic and tires easily, but he’s not a total waif, either, and he’s decent at sports that don’t require a whole lot of stamina.
[Personality]
Pretty much an all-around nice guy, although somewhat sheltered. Once he was sick, he wasn’t really able to play sports anymore, and even after he went into remission he tended to shy away from physical challenges, but he loves acting and video games and basically being a goofy, happy kid.
He firmly believes that he’s a lucky person and that life is going to be good to him, and not much can change his view on this. An optimist to the core, but he’s not so much annoying about it as he is confident.

[Strengths]
[Optimistic] When life gives him lemons, he makes lemonade. Bad situations make him want to fight back, not give up.
[Actor] He’s been acting since he was pretty young. It doesn’t encompass his entire life or anything, but he’s a pretty decent actor, and might exploit this if the situation called for it.
[Aware of Mortality] He was very sick as a child and came close to dying on a couple of occasions; this means that Hansuke had to make some pretty deep realizations about his own mortality before most kids even comprehend what death is. If it came down to it, in the end, Hansuke wouldn’t be afraid to die. He’s already “made his peace,” so to speak.
[Weaknesses]
[Physically weak] After being sick as a child, Hansuke never got back into sports, and he’s not the most physical person around. If it came down to a fight that required strength or stamina, he’d probably lose.
[Fear of pain] He spent a lot of his time as a child being poked with needles and being sick from chemotherapy, and as a consequence, he’ll go to pretty great lengths to avoid being in pain, even if it makes him look like a wimp.
[Sheltered] Compared to a lot of the kids in his class, he’s grown up fairly sheltered and protected. When it comes to ‘real world’ issues like drugs and sex, he falters and gets skittish.

[Mother] Akiko Itagaki - Slightly overprotective. The typical doting mother of an only child. She co-owns the family’s restaurant and is a member of the local parents’ society.
[Father] Itsuki Itagaki - Co-owns a local restaurant and bar with his wife. Also coaches a youth soccer team on weekends. He and his son have similar personalities, and Hansuke looks up to his dad a lot.
