Be that as it may, a friend is still a friend, and while you're here complaining about being bored to tears they're going to be worrying about you dying of boredom. That's not a good way to show your camaraderie, however nicely you try to spin it.
[And then he hangs up. Holmes unnerves him, and that ruthless, seemingly cold disregard of what he'd thought was an admirable friendship is upsetting to see. He doesn't want to hear any more.]
