It wasn't like Yuffie wasn't listening, she just... had a hard time grasping the concept no matter how many times it was hammered into her head. Meisters, Weapons, death cities, and classes of all things. She'd done her time! Spending years around Godo was punishment enough, why did she get dragged into all of this? Yuffie felt she was a very important person, you see. There were things to do, people to see, materia and gil that needed liberating
( ... )
She hadn't gone too far to be unable to hear the voice calling out to her and Yuffie came to a halt, glancing over her shoulder. "Huh?" As far as she knew, she was a ninja, end of story.
She turned back, shaking her head a little. "None of the above! I'm not from here, I don't get this kind of thing." And she was fine being blissfully unaware of it, granted it could probably help to know despite her severe loathing in having to ask somebody else.
That was an interesting attitude, to say the least. He cocked his head to one side curiously, wondering what to say to such an attitude.
"Well," He began thoughtfully "I'm not from here either, but so far everyone who has been brought here from another world has turned out to be a Weapon or a Meister regardless of what they are back home."
Still just as confused, Yuffie shrugged her shoulders and looked away. "Nope, no matter what I'm always going to be a ninja." Maybe she just wasn't getting the point, which was more than likely the case.
Curious, though, she pointed a finger at the stranger. "What about you? You say everyone ends up as a Weapon or a... A master?" Close enough. "So what are you?"
"I don't think being a Weapon or Meister stops you from being a ninja at all..." He coughed lightly, wondering if he should have said that out loud but maybe with proud-types you needed to point out those kinds of things.
The finger angled in his direction makes him raise an eyebrow for smiling brightly. At least curiosity was a start.
"Meister, not master. That's what I am. It means that I'm a person who can wield someone who is a Weapon. Meisters also each have an ability suited to them. My Meister ability here, like Maka's, is Soul Perception. It means I can see a person's soul and tell things about them. Like... What the soul looks like, where someone is, whether they are a Weapon or Meister, what kind of soul they have, things like that."
She had heard him, but Yuffie leaned closer anyway with a hand cupped around her ear. "What's that?" Almost threatening, but she laughed it off and straightened back, arms reaching up to fold behind her head. "Of course nothing could stop that. A ninja is a ninja is a ninja." Whatever that meant, and thank Leviathan she didn't decide to continue that never ending sentence.
After listening to the explanation, Yuffie wasn't absolutely sure if she should have felt violated or not. He could see her soul? Just what did that mean? "Then what am I? Can I see them too?" Although, thinking more on it she realized she may not have wanted that same ability.
Allen's eye twitched a little. She reminded him of someone. Someone else who was a short, cocky brat like that. It was shame he couldn't just adopt the same tactic as dealing with Fou, but he didn't know this kid well enough to counter brat with brat to the fully extent of his ability
( ... )
Yuffie fidgeted uncomfortably as he stared at her, hands moving to her hips while she turned her head away. Was everybody with his power like that? Maybe that kind of ability wouldn't be so great... She looked toward him again when he spoke up, the discomfort vanishing as quickly as it had come. "A Ninja Meister." Of course, she had to add the ninja part. What was a Yuffie without her amazing skills, after all?
It was a little disappointing that she couldn't take a Weapon Form, but maybe having some different power could be exciting. "But you can't tell what I can do, huh?" Guess it would have to be a challenge. That was okay, Yuffie liked challenges.
"Then I'll figure it out! Just have to... I don't know, try everything I guess." She was already imagining herself flying, or seeing through walls, but maybe jumping off a roof or staring at buildings wasn't going to be the right way to go about it. "Oh! Uh.. Thanks!"

"You don't what to know whether you're a Weapon or a Meister then?" He tried to call after her, though it may have been too late.
