[He's been scooting up and down the beach for the better part of the early afternoon, kicking sand about every once in a while, or stopping to poke at shells or bits of driftwood with naught but mild, passing interest. He's been staring at his feet for the past few minutes, watching his feet leave footprints in the wet sand, watching the water get squeezed out of the sand and puddling in the newly impressed prints.

Distracted as he is, it really isn't much of a surprise that he runs headlong into Takasugi.]
