Description: Mission #70 is go! Vergil takes Koujurou on a mission in order to prove himself worthy of a partnership.
If Vergil had expected the mission he and Koujurou had signed up for to be as simple and brief of an affair of those he had previously embarked upon - in and out, fight a Kishin Egg, be done in an hour - he was quickly abused of the notion.
Only two pieces of intelligence had been provided in regards to their would-be target: the presence of supposedly unkillable shadow-like creatures, and word of some kind of “voodoo king” potentially pulling the strings. The reason for which is that voodoo was apparently present within New Orleans. Incidentally, it was “present” in that it factored heavily into its very culture. It was, in fact, a major tourist attraction and the concept was heavily commercialized to the point that severe doubt was cast upon the authenticity of any of its supposed practitioners.
It made the task of locating their would-be Kishin Egg that much more difficult. Much time had been wasted scouring the place for any relevant leads. In that regard, there had been next to none. Even word of attacks at all had seemed scarce, as if they were minor, obscure, or that simply nobody was particularly willing to talk. The only indicator of anything out of the ordinary was the existence of a voodoo king. Traditionally, Louisiana Voodoo was apparently centered around its voodoo queens, including its most famous figure Marie Laveau, who had been a famous proponent and oracle in the 1830’s.
It was a remote avenue of investigation at best, but Marie Laveau’s tomb was considered a place of reverence, and many followers passed through there. It was there that Vergil and Koujurou headed after a largely fruitless search.
“Have you ever dealt with the ‘supernatural’ before?” Vergil asked Koujurou conversationally while they were walking. He wasn’t well-versed in Japanese culture, but he was aware of a little of its mythology, and it was rife with its own beasts such as oni and kappa. Or dragons, for that matter.
