[OPEN] [SHOPPING DISTRICT] [MIDNIGHT] ablushingblade May 24 2011, 05:52:17 UTC
The moment the announcement was made, Kasuga practically flew over buildings to get to her post in order to properly defend it. At the time people had rushed too and fro to get where they needed to be, but now the air was still to the point where she was almost afraid to breath. As always, she took up watch on the rooftops, allowing her the best vantage point. However, instead of moving from one to the other, today her watch took place at the edge of the highest building with her arms crossed over her chest.

Though she stood still and ready for a fight, she was nervous to say the least. She had yet to encounter a kishin and while she knew some about them, she was unsure of what to expect. She knew she could not fight them alone, not without finding a partner. It made her feel weak, but she would do all she could to defend her area and push the creatures to someone that could do more than her.

Normally Sasuke would have held to the long-standing tradition of dropping in on Kasuga uninvited and undetected, but the magnitude of the situation deemed it slightly inappropriate. Plus buildings made stealth a little more difficult since they distinctly lacked foliage for, well. Stealthing. It was something he was still getting used to. Frankly, it felt foreign.

That was, to say nothing of the fact that he came with company for once. He didn't appear too thrilled about that, either, truth be told.

All the same, he gave the customary greeting. "Yo," he drawled, flicking a casual half-salute from his temple. Whether in Working Mode or not, he couldn't help but sport a smirk and ask candidly, "You're not planning on standing guard all by yourself, are you~?" She didn't have a Meister with her. Didn't she know she needed a partner?

Kasuga's eyes flickered in the direction of Sasuke only momentarily, but the rest of her body was altogether unmoving save for the way her body tensed at his arrival. Eyes cast back out, staring off into the distance as she waited for something other than Sasuke to drop in on her unannounced.

"If I am?" she responded cooly. Just barely a fraction of the tension left her body. She may not even be willing to admit it to herself, but the familiarity of the shinobi was almost comforting in a moment where she felt completely and utterly lost.

She wasn't often patrolling up high, in fact Yuffie preferred to be down below not because of the heights but because - clearly - that is where the action began! Still, starting her shift was meant to be nothing more than boring until now and at the moment, while Yuffie could boast and brag ("No fear!") as well as the rest of them, her nerves were calmer in the presence of friends. Sort of.

Not that Sasuke was all that friendly and she jabbed an elbow into his back before 'innocently' peeking around to look over at Kasuga.

"Hey!" And finally announcing herself as well. "Don't listen to him, he's annoying." She shoved at him a little, as if trying to move him out of her way and maybe out of the picture completely. "But you really shouldn't be alone! There's gotta be somebody you know that'll fight with you..."

Order Kasuga -> Yuffie -> Sasuke? totallynottalon May 27 2011, 21:52:34 UTC
Sasuke frowned slightly. "By yourself, you can't-" he began, but was rudely interrupted by something digging sharply into his back. Privately he'd been hoping that he might have left Yuffie behind a little, but she'd kept up with him easily enough. It was both annoying and comforting all the same to know she could keep pace and was halfway competent.

Rolling his eyes, he stepped out of the way and glanced away with noted disinterest. But then he snorted quietly and drawled, "Maybe you could have Kisaragi-san wield you instead." Intended to be sarcastic, he wondered idly if he couldn't actually palm the kunoichi off to the other one. Solve both problems...

Kasuga's lips twitched upwards at Yuffie's outburst about the shinobi's certain personality qualities, but otherwise did not acknowledged that she said any such thing. Pivoting on the balls of her foot she faced the two, eyes darting back and forth as they spoke.

"You two are-- I had not been aware that you two had formed a partnereship," she said when the realization dawned on her. She hadn't been aware that they had known each other either, but as she looked between the two she thought that perhaps it was a good match.

Missing Sasuke's sarcasm entirely, she shook her head. "I do not wish to break up a partnership for my own sake. I will... I will deal without a partner. If I understand correctly, while I may not be able to injure them without a meister, I can still push them to someone that can while protecting the area."

It was subtle, but Kasuga's expression held a hint of sadness. As always, she felt as if everything was her own fault, that maybe she did not deserve a partner.

Yuffie huffed and threw him a narrow-eyed glance at the comment, though she was not completely adverse to having two Weapons instead. In fact - "It's new," the scowl shifted into a wide grin in only half a second as she returned her gaze to the blond, "and we're still working on it, but I don't have a problem letting you be my Weapon, too." No, it's not like Yuffie was being greedy or anything. This was purely for the sake of keeping her friend safe and protected!

And a little for bragging rights.

"I can share my Meister-ness between the two of you, it's not a problem at all." Yuffie snickered, dense to any subtleties.

Turning his head, Sasuke rolled his eyes before affecting a cheerful smile and flapping his hand. "No, no, we can't dilute your, ah, 'Meister-ness' between people, Kisaragi-san. We wouldn't want it to lose its unique quality-" It was fortunate that he had experience in dealing with irrational people, but he was still attempting to learn Yuffie's 'language'.

"-and I'm sure Kasuga needs you a lot more than I do," he finished, grinning. His tone was intended to tease, since evidently neither of them were picking up on his off-handed attempts to mildly provoke them. Hidden more deeply was a touch of unspoken concern for the blonde kunoichi. He'd looked out for her more than once in the past, but here was a situation where being on her own was more dangerous than ever.

Maybe he could palm off leave Yuffie with her. But he definitely wasn't going to do so openly for her sake. Kasuga had her pride, after all, and Sasuke wasn't generally soft-hearted. Plus, y'know. Yuffie was annoying. He could go either way.

Eyes flit from one to the other as they spoke as she thought on what they both had said. While it may be useful for her to wield them both, she begrudgingly agreed with Sasuke on this particular matter. Eyes landed on younger of the three shinobi, softening in the fondness she had for the younger girl's enthusiasm for battle, "I am afraid Sasuke is correct, it would not due for you to wield the two of us without proper practice."

Though Kasuga's words were polite as always, the way her eyes shifted to Sasuke with a half-glare was the only way she would let on that she did not particularly want to have to share anyone or anything with the ninja of Kai. With the tiniest of hmphs she lifted her head proudly, "You need a partner no more than I do. I will make do."

"Gee, I didn't know you cared so much about your Meister..." her tone irritated and a look to match. She would have to make a mental note to bind him with his own wire one of these days ( ... )
