Though she stood still and ready for a fight, she was nervous to say the least. She had yet to encounter a kishin and while she knew some about them, she was unsure of what to expect. She knew she could not fight them alone, not without finding a partner. It made her feel weak, but she would do all she could to defend her area and push the creatures to someone that could do more than her.

That was, to say nothing of the fact that he came with company for once. He didn't appear too thrilled about that, either, truth be told.
All the same, he gave the customary greeting. "Yo," he drawled, flicking a casual half-salute from his temple. Whether in Working Mode or not, he couldn't help but sport a smirk and ask candidly, "You're not planning on standing guard all by yourself, are you~?" She didn't have a Meister with her. Didn't she know she needed a partner?

"If I am?" she responded cooly. Just barely a fraction of the tension left her body. She may not even be willing to admit it to herself, but the familiarity of the shinobi was almost comforting in a moment where she felt completely and utterly lost.

Not that Sasuke was all that friendly and she jabbed an elbow into his back before 'innocently' peeking around to look over at Kasuga.
"Hey!" And finally announcing herself as well. "Don't listen to him, he's annoying." She shoved at him a little, as if trying to move him out of her way and maybe out of the picture completely. "But you really shouldn't be alone! There's gotta be somebody you know that'll fight with you..."

Rolling his eyes, he stepped out of the way and glanced away with noted disinterest. But then he snorted quietly and drawled, "Maybe you could have Kisaragi-san wield you instead." Intended to be sarcastic, he wondered idly if he couldn't actually palm the kunoichi off to the other one. Solve both problems...

"You two are-- I had not been aware that you two had formed a partnereship," she said when the realization dawned on her. She hadn't been aware that they had known each other either, but as she looked between the two she thought that perhaps it was a good match.
Missing Sasuke's sarcasm entirely, she shook her head. "I do not wish to break up a partnership for my own sake. I will... I will deal without a partner. If I understand correctly, while I may not be able to injure them without a meister, I can still push them to someone that can while protecting the area."
It was subtle, but Kasuga's expression held a hint of sadness. As always, she felt as if everything was her own fault, that maybe she did not deserve a partner.

And a little for bragging rights.
"I can share my Meister-ness between the two of you, it's not a problem at all." Yuffie snickered, dense to any subtleties.

"-and I'm sure Kasuga needs you a lot more than I do," he finished, grinning. His tone was intended to tease, since evidently neither of them were picking up on his off-handed attempts to mildly provoke them. Hidden more deeply was a touch of unspoken concern for the blonde kunoichi. He'd looked out for her more than once in the past, but here was a situation where being on her own was more dangerous than ever.
Maybe he could palm off leave Yuffie with her. But he definitely wasn't going to do so openly for her sake. Kasuga had her pride, after all, and Sasuke wasn't generally soft-hearted. Plus, y'know. Yuffie was annoying. He could go either way.

Though Kasuga's words were polite as always, the way her eyes shifted to Sasuke with a half-glare was the only way she would let on that she did not particularly want to have to share anyone or anything with the ninja of Kai. With the tiniest of hmphs she lifted her head proudly, "You need a partner no more than I do. I will make do."
