Since the warning had gone out Gai was doing the best job he could making sure the district was secure. There was a lot to do, and he made mental notes the entire time on what would need to be prepared and worked on in the future, the things that they didn't have time to secure at the moment.

While he was out on his own, he figured his partial Weapon form would keep him safe enough against Kishin until he ran into Kakashi. He could also team up if someone resonated with him and they needed it. When the attack hit he was still alone, but he had every confidence in being able to handle things, just like he had every confidence in pretty much everything he did.

Gai nodded and quickly did so, sinking to his knees before changing into the kusarigama form so he didn't fall too far. "It's best to hold the scyth handle with your dominant hand, and swing the chain with your secondary hand. I do not know if you have used one of these before?" It was a bit weird to consider himself an item, but it worked for brevity's sake.

"I am sure you will! And I am able to help a little. It is not much, but it is some." Just as he could move slightly in his weapon form, he could fly a little more straight and true. It wasn't much, like he'd said, but when in a new situation it was far better than nothing.

He relaxed, focusing on trusting Auron, resonating with him. Gai didn't know Auron the way he knew Kakashi, but there was less to risk here too.

It wasn't what Gai felt with Kakashi, but he hadn't expected it to be. In a way, it was a little gratifying that it was different. He could continue to consider his resonance with Kakashi as special.

What approached them was a bit like a crab mixed with a scorpion, if crabs or scorpions were ever quite that big. It was hard to miss, what with being bright red and clattering as it walked. "From the left," Gai said. He didn't want to talk too much during battle; there was no way for him to know yet how Auron worked in a fight. "It looks like there are cracks in the shell that the scythe can be wedged in."

"You can also use the chain to restrain; the weight at the end will help with holding it in place." He couldn't assist much. While he knew a good bit about wielding weaponry, Auron had to use him as best Auron could. There was a little amusement from here as Auron told it to go away; it was likely Auron could feel it through their link. "I am not sure that it will follow orders from either of us." As if to agree with Gai, the Kishin snapped those claws at the Meister, aiming for Auron's legs.

Dug had assisted Sora and Alistair in the fight and eaten his first three kinshin eggs. He thought they were pretty amazing, like someone had combined tennis balls and treats into one fantastic entity, and he couldn't wait to find a meister and get more! It was his first time being used as a real weapon against something other than a paper target, and he was still getting used to the feeling.

However... the attack had ended, and left here and there on the streets were people, injured or trapped or otherwise unable to get help, and Dug knew his place. He had to do his best to find and help the humans!

Gai still didn't like eating the eggs, but if it was needed to assist in the fight, then he would do it. He'd helped Kakashi back to their apartment, bandaged and tucked into bed with water, communicator, books, and puppy, and then returned to the streets. There was still more to do. Once outside, though, he paused. The scope of all that was needed was huge, and Gai couldn't even sense chakra to find survivors. It wasn't often that Gai was overwhelmed but there was so much to do.

Before it could really get to him, he spotted Dug. At first he was only going to wave. And then he remembered Dug's talk about being a good tracker. "Dug! It is very good to see you! Are you busy?"
