he glances dubiously at Masaru and Chika.]
So... you two are partners, right? Or was this some kind of last minute team-up?
((OOC: If you guys would rather prose this, go for it!))

Yeah, it was kinda last minute, actually. Masaru only ended up being a weapon really recently, after all.
[She wasn't going to mention that she was here mostly to keep him from being killed doing something stupid right now. That wasn't really going to help.]

Heh yeah, and I asked around... looks like family members can resonate easier. So here we are. [A flicker of worry: if there was one thing Masaru fears it'ss something happening to Chika, her having to fight. But there's no dissuading her, so the best he can do is be the one to protect her. No one else would do.]

She led them through the corridor until they came to a split, and she stopped short of walking into the open. The smell of kishin was already strong in this place, so she concentrated on listening for them instead. Selendis turned her back to the other three for a moment.]
Focus now. We are getting close.

as Selendis speaks, he breaks from the pair to join her. he has no idea what they're up against, so better to pair up now than get caught off guard later.]

Don't drop me, alright?

Strike quickly and without mercy!

And don't do anything stupid, Masaru!

Alright, Masaru-niichan. Let's go.

Burst Mode!
[The reaction is sudden and intense. The young girl, from an outsider's experience, appears to practically catch ablaze. The 'flames' are warm, but harmless at least.. though they're spewing energy like a furnace. Masaru can feel his sister's calmer and more controlled wavelength, redirecting the constantly bubbling heat of his soul into something more useable, and the flames calm into just flickering around her hands and a few choice places around her body, waiting to be shaped into whatever she desired.
Still, there's a strong feeling that they could break free at any moment and char everything around them if not held in constant check.]
I'm never gonna get used to that. [Even though his voice sounds like he's grinning like a dope]

Slow as the kishin is, it certainly doesn't miss Chika bursting into flames. When it turns on them, snarling through a maw of razor sharp teeth, it's hard to tell what used to be human. The kishin is scaly and sickly green, but it's built like a bear and probably stronger than one.
Selendis rolls the axe over her hands a few times before charging the kishin, denying it the privilege of the first blow. She expects Chika and Masaru to back her up, but she's not relying on it.]

[he's not all that bothered by the rolls, but still. it's hard to keep the rookies in line and be swung around at the same time, so Karkat stops bickering and refocuses. the kinshin eggs are just annoying, but there could be witches around. he falls grudgingly silent and looks out for more trouble.]

And as such, Chika ran forward, fist pulled back as she moved to attack the kishin from the opposite direction of Selendis. So that they wouldn't have to worry about getting in the other two's way as they fought this thing.]

And a barely held in terror at seeing her so openly in danger.
Still, when she swings he focuses on that point, pouring flame and heat behind the attack]
Chika! Try the knees! [He 's not the planning type: he always left that for Touma. But HIM rushing in the front is different then her doing so]

Selendis is there first, lashing out at the kishin as it raises its arm to deflect the strike. The axe blade brings up sparks instead of cutting through the scales, but the force of the blow is enough to make it give some ground. Selendis does the same, though, giving Chika room to work so no one else gets burned.]
Do it! The joints will be weaker! [The kishin is already trying to itself turn towards the fiery meal, jaws snapping. Selendis stands ready to strike again - if Chika can bring it down to the ground, they would make short work of it.]
