[Closed to Hitsugaya] sadoslash October 5 2011, 02:21:30 UTC
[ They had succeeded in taking down their very first kishin egg the day before. It was a difficult fight, but it was a huge accomplishment.

However, here in Lucerne the battle is much more intense. Sougo has Hitsugaya in his hand, racing forward with his senses alert. This is a battle. For the first time since they took this trip -- Sougo is taking this seriously. ]

You see anything?

[Hitsugaya's focused and alert as they're in the midst of battle, keeping his attention on both the situation at hand and Sougo as well. It wasn't so much what he could see but more what he could feel; the Madness was strong here, just as he'd expected]

I don't think so. Not yet.

[ The first kishin egg comes out without a warning, and before Sougo has time to respond telepathically to Hitsugaya -- he's moving. It becomes an easy dance, a matter of dodging evading before he jams the Hyorinmaru blade into the creatures neck and easily slices it from its body. ]

....ah. I forgot to do bankai.

[Had the situation been less serious, Hitsugaya probably would have snapped at Sougo that that was not how Bankai worked. But he ignored the comment for now]

Just keep focusing... they're everywhere.

[It was taking more concentration now to focus on the fight and Hitsugaya wasn't sure if it was just him.]

I am focused. You stay focused.

[ Sougo noticed this difficulty, the slight struggle to maintain resonation...because it hadn't been like this since the first time they tried. And though the madness is present, Sougo felt relatively fine -- no different than normal at least unless you counted the urge to rip things apart a little more than usual. ]

[It was there, he knew. Hovering at the edge of his mind, reaching out with a light touch that held menace behind it. They had to do this quickly, had to get out quickly. Hitsugaya's gaze darted over the enemies, feeling slight desperation to get through them. They'd taken down a few before, they could surely take on more easily.]

Come on. We can take them.

[ Sougo moved forward with ease to slash at the enemies and cut them before they had a chance to attack. That wasn't the difficult part. What was difficult was the fact that his synchronization was off with his partner. When he went to move the Hyorinmaru, it felt a little heavier -- a little resistant in his grasp. ]

[It felt as if Sougo was holding them back at this point. They were off, and Hitsugaya felt sure it wasn't him who was slowing down but his partner. It didn't make sense to him why he would hold back, but soon Sougo wouldn't be able to wield him at all.]

What's wrong? Can't you keep up?

There's something off.

[ Sougo narrowly avoided another oncoming kishin egg, driving the blade of the sword into its stomach and slicing clean up to its torso. It fell along with the rest of the heap. ]

There's something off on your end...

[ Bloodlust. Madness. It was bleeding through their link, teasing the back of Sougo's mind and threatening to make him lose control. But Sougo was used to madness and bloodlust. He used it to his advantage every fight he got into. ]

My end?? They're not a problem for me.

[It'd been awhile now since he'd been in actual battles, and the rush of it was coming back to him. Was it always like this? He couldn't recall and couldn't be bothered to dwell on it. There were enemies that they had to get through now, and ripping through them felt like it could go on and on and he wouldn't have enough. Good thing there were enough of them.]

[ It was getting too heavy. The resonance was becoming somewhat painful. After he took out the last enemy nearby, he could no longer keep his grasp on Hitsugaya. The weapon was dropped to the ground as Sougo blew on his hands, surprised that a weapon comprised to deal ice damage could burn so badly. ]

[He hit the ground but only took a moment before transforming back into human form, stumbling back and scowling at his meister, his voice raising]

What are you doing?! Can't you keep it together?

[Maybe Sougo was too weak for this. All Hitsugaya had wanted was to drive them forward, but Sougo had faltered back and destroyed their resonance. The enemies were coming now, and he didn't think his meister could wield him any longer. Breathing raggedly, the pain and exhaustion from their failed resonance threatened to hold him back, but he had worked through pain and exhaustion before, many times. The enemy still needed to be cut down.]

I could ask you the same thing. It's embarrassing how much the madness is affecting you.

[ The problem was....Sougo didn't know what he could do about it. If resonance wasn't working and that was supposed to make them stronger against the madness -- what could he really do to stop Hitsugaya when they currently weren't resonating? ]

[Making a loud sound of irritation, Hitsugaya chose to ignore his meister. If they couldn't resonate, he'd have figure it out on his own. Someone had mentioned that weapons could tranform partially and still fight without a meister. If he could do that...

Focusing on the act of transformation, Hitsugaya concentrated on his arm, figuring that would be the easiest way to keep fighting. It wasn't until he set his gaze upon the kishin eggs that he was able to extend his arm out as a sword now, setting forward with rapid movements to slice through one approaching.]

[ Sougo just watched his weapon in action, a grim expression on his face. He was doing a great deal of damage, sure, but he was losing himself in the process. If he didn't stop Hitsugaya, then he was sure the captain would get knocked down -- which might actually work to his benefit in escaping. Maybe it would even bring him back to his senses. ]

[He was exhausting himself, but at this stage he was ignoring it. The bloodshed was making up for it somehow in a way he wasn't questioning. He couldn't rest while they stood before him, and he kept cutting through any near him. It felt good to have control over the fight as well instead of just acting as the tool.

It couldn't go on forever though. There were just too many, and Hitsugaya had charged into the midst of them. The kishin eggs weren't nearly as difficult as some of the opponents he'd gone against, but his body was starting to slow down, and a blow from a kishin egg's claw sent him back with a slash across his chest.]
