AROUND SHIBUSEN checkoutmyjugs December 16 2011, 13:19:55 UTC
Around ShibusenKilik was nervous. This was his first time leading a new area on one of these tours. Here it was just him, and him alone. How Crona had managed to do it at all was very surprising -- but with the way the kid had stuttered his/her way through the written index cards, Kilik was probably brimming with confidence in comparison. Of course, he had his own set of cue cards that he had carefully written himself and when he read, it sounded more like the beginnings of a school report than anything ( ... )

Courtney examined the building Kilik indicated. Nice architecture, at least. Then she turned back to him and raised a hand.

"What exactly is Shibusen? Is it a military organization or something?"

Kilik glanced at Courtney -- surprised (and amused) by the hand raising. "Something like that, kinda. Shibusen is largely an operation that fights what other military organizations can't -- but this school itself is more designed to teaching weapons and meisters how to control their powers whether it's for combat or simply to avoid being a danger to themselves."

Courtney thought about that for a moment. "So does that mean that conventional weapons aren't very useful against the witches?" She asked.

"Not really. You can land a bit of damage, but you'd never be able to take one down with just a regular weapon. It's the resonance that gives you the strength here."

"Resonance? Between what? You and your partner?"

"Yeah! That's what we call it. The bond you and your weapon have together. You're probably gonna hear a bunch of weird things about partnership -- but I promise it ain't like marriage, you don't have to make out with your partner to resonate, and you don't have to fall down a flight of stairs to transform into your weapon form if you're a weapon." He scratched the back of his head. "I honestly don't know where half the guests get these things." ....minus the stair falling thing which actually did work.

"I'll keep that in mind," She said nervously. She wouldn't have imagined either of those things to be true. How do rumors like that get started?

Then she was already much brighter than half the guests! Kilik plastered on a friendly grin. "Heh, what's your name?"

She offered him a small smile. "I'm Courtney Crumrin."

"Well, sorry about the circumstances we're meeting under but it's nice to meet ya, Courtney! If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask me, alright?" Kilik offered his fist for a friendly fist bump.

She returned the fist bump with a slightly bigger smile. If nothing else, at least people are friendly. "Thanks. I'll do that."

"Great!" She seemed like a nice girl -- small and young, but who was he to judge? After all, he was probably her age when he first started this as well. "Be sure to let me know whether you're a meister or a weapon after ya hit up the Soul Perception area." He squinted at her thoughtfully, tapping his chin. "I got a feelin' in my gut that you're a meister. Let's see if I'm right."

Soul Perception obviously wasn't one of Kilik's skills.

The Warrior's face remained expressionless as he took in this 'Shibusen' building--nothing at all like the Sanctuary, and his lack of expression almost suggested a politely withheld opinion on its aesthetic qualities.

The talking about classes does not interest him, but... "Tell me more about the Watch." It's more command than question, but he's crossed the threshold into rudeness yet.

His attention drifted toward the man, quite accustomed to guests and their moods by now. Kilik simply brought his hand upward to slide his glasses into place, "Well, the Watch takes out the threats surrounding and within Shibusen. They're basically a police force of sorts. There are regular patrol units, shifts -- and they're allowed to carry weapons that aren't necessarily human weapons. You'd have to talk to Mustang about the complicated stuff like zone leaders and shifts, though."

He listened attentively, but... "'Allowed' to carry weapons?" A slight tilt of his head was the only giveaway of the bemusement he felt--but from the question, it was clear that he found the concept of a person being not allowed to carry a weapon very strange.
