Though a new world completely, there were many similarities between this Death City place and what he remembered from back in his world. Excluding the disturbing sight of the sun, of course, but it seemed humans remained fundamentally the same regardless of universe. It was a comforting factor, actually.

Still, Alvin preferred to be on top of things the best he could, and so he sat on Shibusen's stairs, giving the communicator he'd been given another look at. he knew how to handle technology, but this little device was something new.

Oh it functions like a mirror on top of everythng else too? Well, why not check his appearance then? Best not to leave a bad first impression with disheveled hair, right?

It had certainly been confirmed that this man was not your average fellow asking simple questions to pass time. This man was digging intently, purposefully, into Alvin's inner workings. It was true he had nothing to hide and nothing to lose, but what good would bringing them up again now do him when he had told himself he would move forward and start anew?

Saleh made a rather valid point however. Alvin could keep his facade up for as long as he was able, but when BREW or whatever the thing was called thought fit to send him back home, he'd be back where he started.

And then what? He didn't know. Didn't want to consider it. He wasn't there anymore.

"Maybe some of us don't want to be sent back home." The casual smile Alvin wore seemed forced at this point, his genuine feelings of chivalry had faded. Perhaps his answer would feed Saleh's probing.

Whenever given the chance, Saleh always attempted to pry in people's minds, testing their reactions. And it wasn't going to be different with that man. He had been a challenge up until that moment, successfully concealing every trace of emotion. Whether that slip was the result of his probing or Alvin's intention didn't matter, it was the perfect change to dig deeper into his feelings.

"And what would be the reason for that?"
