Description: Obito is taken home and meets Kakashi face-to-face at last! Gai gets to stand around and awkwardly worry about what this new arrival means for their relationship. Antics ensue?
Obito almost wished he had more luggage to haul on the trip to Gai and Kakashi's place to keep his mind off of what was about to happen. As it was, he only had his communicator and manual and the clothes on his back, which had been washed before he left the clinic by one of the kindly caretakers. Maybe he should have been grateful there wasn't a lot to carry. He didn't want to burden Gai with any of his things and Obito himself still had his arm in a cast. The cast was mostly a precaution since his bones were almost good as new thanks to Watson. Being well meant he could finally leave the clinic and start making a living here in Death City, but before that he had to face Kakashi.
He let Gai do all the talking on the trip to the condominium. Obito didn't want to seem rude, but he had plenty of reason to be distracted. There was so much he wanted to ask and know, and so much he probably had to face after all this time. Kakashi was going to be older. How did that change their relationship? Could they be friends again like they had been before? Would that moment of understanding they had shared before he died still linger on, or would things be... different?
Obito sighed, waiting for Gai to unlock the door to their apartment. His stomach was full of butterflies. Reaching up with his good hand, he pulled his goggles down over his eyes like a shield. It was an unconscious decision, but little by little the tension began to release from his shoulders. He could do this. He just had to be himself. That might cause Kakashi irritation or exasperate Gai, but at least that would be normal.
