one. Armstrong remembers the day when he first met Roy Mustang, the young fighter who came to Ishval with him and the rest of the squad in order to join the efforts of the fight. By then he was already broken, not sure how much longer he can take this slaughter without feeling as if he's throwing away something important inside himself.

But yet when the young man takes the reins and has to lead the platoon he's in, Armstrong only obeys without question. Its only after he's out of that platoon then does he finally get out of the campaign.

two. The next time he meets Roy Mustang, the fighter is now a veteran and goes through each day as if he's already dead. He can see the haunting in his eyes, the spectres of the dead floating in his mind's eye. Armstrong sees a man beaten and broken before belief as he stands before the freshly-promoted Colonel, standing straight and a salute at the ready
