well... u can also think of ur friends being as ur family. I understand and i feel u, not really having that connection with ur family. But for me, ive always just stuck with the closest people in my life, even if theyre not blood, theyre just as good as family.
We feel like that every holiday. It has been hard for me to deal with being this far from home. This year we are inviting the single soldiers that hubby works with over. I hate knowing that they sit in their rooms eating microwave food or KFC. I try to get a hold of their moms and make a familiar side dish. This year I hope to have all of his single soldiers over...3. I'd take you in if you were closer! ;P
It's the least we can do for them. Like others said, make your friends your family during the holidays. At least you wouldn't be shelling out money or eating cold meals. After dinner we will sometimes get out the Karaoke and drinks and party the rest of the night. (it's fun when you have the right crowd over...lol)
i dont think about my situation till i hear something like this. i have no idea what it feels like to not have what i've had. i've spent every single holiday with family and its very traditional. so many people tell me that i'm lucky to have what i have had. i should be more thankful for it i suppose... wonder if its bad that i dont often acknowledge it...

why u tryin to say that KFC serves cold mashed taters? u ain't right. but somebody already beat me to defending KFC's food. just kiddin'. wish u happy one anyway. u more than anyone should know, family is just a concept, it's those u choose to be loved by and to love, ur friends are ur family. lift the chip off ur shoulder (a valid one at that) and let it go. u'll neva enjoy it if u don't change ur perception of it some kinda time. start now.
