Cyber-Bullying

So insomnia drives me once again to write something.

I was on YouTube and was assaulted by this YouTube link upon an unfortunate misclick. I continued watching it out of curiosity, and it turned out to be a video educating people about cyber-bullying.

I think maybe we having grown up in a time when there was no internet and when the internet was just starting up. We spent a lot of our youth having to interact with people face to face and maybe on some level the internet, for us, is see as an alternative to real life and a somewhat amusing (if not absolutely astounding) technological phenomena that is difficult to see as serious business ( ... )

Fuxx. *sigh*

Seems a shame to waste such a good opportunity to escape IRL concerns like bullying and self-image. I've formed real relationships and so on, and been stung by cruelty and whatnot, but it always seemed less-than-real. That was the entire basis of the internet's appeal!

I guess it's grown up now. :( I'll always remember it as it was back then, innocent, frolicking in IRC channels, an ASCII rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle in every pot, wearing cute little WINsocks and waiting five minutes for images to load.

A lot of times cyber-bullying carries over into real life for these kids. I had a whole presentation in my school work somewhere about Cyber-bullying, but I don't think you really want to waste your time with it anymore.
