Wait, wait - Resident Evil 4 broke every possible convention about the series, including such particular favourites as prerendered graphics with creepy camera angles, story that isn't total self-ironic Hollywood cheese (yes, I'm ignoring Code X Veronica. I'm still in denial over that one), having viral zombies and being scary - and you're remarking that the game defies formula by having the dirt-easy, semi-playable escape sequence at the end? o_O Now, of course, RE4 is a totally fantastic game, but you'd think one might have noticed it's not exactly a conventional RE game a little earlier, eh? I mean, it stole a lot from MGS stuff way earlier, with the radio and whatnot.
Bwahaha! I mentioned Ingrid Hunnigan taking off her glasses while neglecting that the radio thing is kind of a rip from MGS. Talk about missing the mountain for the trees :D
I still like Mei Lin better.
That said, I didn't mind the changes. I thought Capcom probably decided to grow out of prerendering and zombies. While I do miss the zombies (a lot), I thought there was also something scary about gene-infected townspeople that spoke Postuguese and grew mutated squid after their heads' been blown off.
