Characters: Riza Hawkeye and Roy Mustang
Location: Mustang's office
Rating: ...PG/PG-13 (It's far too soon for anything beyond that |D)
Time: August 24th, afternoon.
Description: Set after this conversation (which took place on the 23rd and not the 24th)...and after Hughes' post.

Vague disquiet. That was what she had been feeling ever since last night's conversation. She had tried shrugging it off, but it refused to go, clinging to her. Riza already knew there were difference in their world, and even faint differences in their personalities. But...how bad was it? Maybe it was the fact that he didn't acknowledge her as "Lieutenant" that was bothering her, but something told her it wasn't that.

Not to mention the sudden appearance of Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes. And judging from the reactions of others from her world...they all hadn't expected.

Especially the Colonel.

She closed the door behind her, taking a moment to adjust to the sunlight before she started walking.

While eavesdropping wasn't something Riza usually did, she found herself listening in to their conversation. This was a reunion, yes. But one that was fear from cheerful. A lot of guilt going around; she was exempt from that, but Colonel Mustang--

It hadn't been his fault. And yet his tone of voice sounded on the verge of breaking.

Riza had seen him in many moments--angry, sad, frantic, furious, determined, but never broken.

It had to something that happened in his world. That was the only reason she could think of.

She walked in the direction of his office. The reek coming from the dead frogs was bad, but she had smelled worse. Far worse. Thank goodness it didn't make her nauseated; she had Ishval to thank for that. Thoughts of Ishval made her remember their own war at home. And how they had met for the first time in years on that battlefield. She had entrusted her father's secrets to him, and...it had been used for a weapon.

But she still trusted him after that.

Sooner than she thought, she found herself standing in front of the door, one hand clenched in a fist.

Even now, she trusts him. Why should a different world matter that greatly? Clearly, there was something he wasn't telling her, but--

Riza exhaled a little before reaching out and firmly grasping the knob.

...perhaps today she would find out.

(EDIT: Revised because Hughes posted, and suddenly this meeting becomes...more difficult for the both of them. T_T)
