Who can see souls?
While any meister and weapon can see a dead person's soul, only a select few can actually perceive them.
A particularly strong person is able to see certain aspects of a person’s personality through their soul, while a one-star or beginner can only sense the very basic energy. When this skill is trained, it takes no energy on the user’s part to see the souls of others; in the case of a beginner however, it takes a concentrated effort.
Currently, the NPCs that can use Soul Perception are Maka Albarn, Franken Stein, Ox Ford, Yumi Azusa, Death the Kid, Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, and Joe Buttataki (however, Joe is currently assumed as dead).
Meisters will be allowed to request this ability in their applications, however, you must have a canon reason for having it. This is a rare skill - not everyone will be allowed this ability.
Those with soul perception can also tell new arrivals whether they are a meister or a weapon.
What kinds of souls are there?
There are as many souls as there are people. No one’s soul will be the same, as they are a direct reflection of the person. However, with very few exceptions, there are three basic types of souls:
Human Souls: These are the most common. Meisters and Weapons possess human souls, as do the innocent bystanders of the world. The strength of their souls may vary, but at the heart of it all, they are human.
Kishin Eggs: These are the souls of the corrupted. They have broken the unwritten law and devoured human souls, becoming the seeds of the next Demon God. If they continue along this path, they will become the next Kishin. These souls are harvested by Meisters of Shibusen to prevent that from happening.
Witch’s Souls: As it sounds, these are the souls of witches. They are very powerful, and can be detected by Meisters with the Soul Perception ability. Over the ages, some witches have developed a spell called ‘Soul Protect’ to disguise themselves. Meisters are required to obtain one of these souls in order to forge their weapon into a Death Scythe.
How do you collect souls?
The most common method will be through accepting missions. There will be a board posted with various mission ads that you and your partner may accept.
Souls will also be available through special events - they will be announced ahead of time on the out of character community.
If a person has a split personality would this be shown in their soul?
If you want it to be. The soul can take on two different appearances depending on which personality is currently present. As long as they both follow the guidelines for how a soul should look (explained in the application section) this will be allowed.
Please note that a separate entity that resides in your character does not count as a split personality. If a person(s) can justifiably be considered separate from your character, they will be ejected by BREW. One soul to one body.
