It's all tiggothy's fault, you know...

After tiggothy's amazing shrinking hair, which lead Ed to ponder new and interesting things to do with his hair (oo-er!), I have been thinking about this too. I've been getting a little fed up with my hair lately, and have also realised it's been over 10 years since a hairdresser did anything major to it, which was to cut a chunk off and cut in a fringe ( Read more... )

colour, put in some highlights to lighten it a bit. And I *would* cut layers in to give it some shape, but very gentle layers, rather than chunky. Shape is good.

Maybe get a few inches cut off?

I have had "gentle layers" and I'm afraid I hated them - I'm a bit pernickety about my hair, you see...

I was toying with having long layers just at the front edge to give it a bit more shape near my face...

Yeah, that'd look good. That and some blonde highlights.

Loan it to the folically challenged?

Actually after years of asking the Wife to keep her hair longish, I gave her a free pass to do whatever she liked...about two years ago.

Net result - hair is pretty much the same as always!

Heh...I could probably give you enough for a decent head of hair and still have it down to my waist!

Really, go to Hair By Christmas in Broomhill on a weekday when it's quiet, speak to the owner/balding guy, very nice and friendly, good at what he does.

Get options, then ask people, then get it done!

Hehehe, I have been trying to get my hair cut since Oct/Nov last year but just couldn't decide on what and also lack of time to get to a good hairdresser's and Dec they were booked solid with Xmas party go-ers.

I have to say that I don't think layers give you more lift in fine hair (they keep doing that to my hair and it is still flat and looks more fine after the 1st wash). Layers in thick hair works wonders though. I might go for a really blunt cut.

This is the dilemma I always get, to do something very different or just have a trim, a fringe and a better shape cut into it. And maybe it is me, but all the hairdressers I have been to always do the same thing to my hair despite me asking for something different. Paul suggested I shave my head, which I don't think anyone would like to see, really. >:)

Maybe we should go together then! We can give each other moral support.
