First half is genius, second half is a huge disapponitment.

What I mean is, so much of the first part was really clever - I wanted the second half to also be clever - but it was just conventional horror stuff.

Well, I have to agree there. But what it lost in cleverness, it made up for in some pretty effective splatter. I especially enjoyed the shot of the very first victim being grabbed.

Yes, watching that hapless girl get dragged into its piney clutches made me laugh so hard I had to explain it to co-workers.
