It will soon have been near half a year since that hell which we endured in August, wouldn't it? I shudder to think of what might become of all of our new residents if something similar might happen now, particularly given the weather. Snowfall with no end in sight for days now... how truly unfortunate the souls arriving now must be.

Oh, I do not believe that is fair for one moment. The sensation of writing or the enjoyment from one's peers -- surely these are incentives even beyond a cash prize. Especially in a place such as this one.

Fortunately not. Despite it being his own reminiscences, the story itself centers more around a friend of his, one Sherlock Holmes, and their work in solving a mystery at the behest of Scotland Yard.
