Yeah, so.

As I'm sure most of you have already read, our house was broken into today and robbed of our cool a/v equipment. You know, like the brand new, just out of the box yesterday, 50 inch plasma? Anyway. I could list all the stuff we lost, which is covered by our homeowner's insurance, or I can focus on what we still have ( Read more... )

I'm very sorry to hear that. I would feel beyond violated. (though maybe more for the electronics because I suck like that.) I don't know what the positive side of this could be, but hopefully there is one.

Say, and I know this might sound crazy.. but Di's Xbox live account was on 4 hours ago (after like months and months) playing burnout revenge. So assuming that was stolen too, the thieves would have connected to the internet. I've heard of this sort of thing getting people caught before.

Thank you for letting us know this! She's on the phone with the xbox support people right now trying to track down that IP address. Wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth for the thieves?

Well, I guess I was wrong. At Sara's behest I did some more testing and it doesn't appear that the Xbox Live dashbord works quite the same as it did in its new version. The old version didn't show activities on the website only actual GAMES played previously. Now however, it does seem to show on the console when you were last at the WEBSITE too. So this pretty much blows my theory right out of the water. Which is a shame really, because I bet those scooby snacks taste great.

Well, she was on the website late last night changing the password on her account so the people who stole it couldn't use her gamertag. We all did that. It was a good thought though!

It is, but it could have been a lot worse. This is a minor inconvenience for us, going through the insurance and stuff like that. It was just stuff. We'll get stuff back.

Yeah, I'd be less freaked about the stuff and more just about gross people being in my house. Ugh.

You said you just had a TV delivered... maybe the TV delivery people did it! They would know that you had good stuff!

(Look at me getting all Law & Order on them!)

You're not the first person to suggest that. And I did call Best Buy and let them know of the odd timing of it, in case they get any other calls similarly. If they are going to investigate, we wanted them to know to include our house.

I can't believe that someone does this for a life style. They must truely be very unhappy sad poeple.

All good thoughts to you all!

Thank you! That's the whole thing. These people breaking into houses went wrong somewhere in their lives. We're still fortunate that we do have our health and insurance!
