Thoughts of the past week or so...

- I can feel something building within me concerning getting into ministry. I cannot quite identify it or the way it may come forth but the more I read the Bible and study it in addition to taking in the culture that I will preach to, I know that it will be a message I cannot contain. Nor do I want to. Nor should I even try. I just pray that I can ( Read more... )

I'll be praying for you, that God guides in the direction He wishes for your life....

But politically, I will pray for confusion, struggle and failure.

No doubt I would completely agree with what you mean, but I wouldn't express it in the above words, however...In fact, I would express it rather by saying that I wish Obama the greatest success possible. I just probably have a different idea of what constitutes "success" than Obama does. :-)

I like how Mark Shea put it (and what I think you mean):

I caught Rush the other day when I was out driving around, telling the world about how he hoped Obama failed. It reminded me of the crazies who obsessed for years over the "stolen" election of 2000 and who valued defeating any initiative by Bush more than they valued the good of the country. Of course, what Limbaugh means is that he doesn't want Obama's loony lefty ideas to be implemented with the power of the state. Neither do I. But the thing about partisan politics is that it quickly morphs into a fervent hope that the country suffer ( ... )

I respect the difference between you and I on this point. But I will acknowledge the split between country and politics much like I acknowledged the split between Obama the man and Obama the political leader. I wish him well personally but given his stated beliefs on a number of issues, I wish his adminstration failure for the sake of the country. I will submit myself to prayer and to the laws that uphold God's as I should but I am not obligated to broadly wish him success at what he is doing and what he will do. This is what I submit to you...

And thank you for your continued prayers, brother...:-)

Like I said, I don't think we are differing on this point. As I said, I think it's simply a matter of language being used.

I wish Obama success, politcally even. It's just that I would disagree with Obama on what counts as success. I don't wish him success in accomplishing what he plans on doing at this point in many cases, but I do wish him success.

Hence, take judges. I certainly wish Obama success in that matter.

That is to say, I wish him to support judges that will actually follow the Constitution, not read into it whatever they want. That's my definition of success.

No doubt, however, he has a different definition of success. And, as I said, I don't wish him success in what he plans on doing.

But I still *do* wish him success, in the manner I described above.

And I have no doubt you do as well. :-)

Ah, okay. It is wishing him success in terms that are aligned more with conservative views rather than his own. In that sense, I will join you on that. But I think the liklihood of that occuring are fairly slim...

Prayer warriors are in demand...:-)
