I'm still getting around to following up on that earlier post.
1.) Where did you ring in 2008?
At a turkish restaurant in Nelson -- Hanging with Greta who was dancing there all evening (usually to their music and sometimes with me on Guitar). After they closed at midnight we had a big dinner with the family who owns the restaurant. A new years party with a turkish-russian family I didn't know at all. It was great!
2.) What was your status by Valentine's Day?
Recently single.
3.) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Only insofar as I work at the medical school.
4.) How did you earn your keep?
The usual way, torturing medical students for fun and profit.
5.) Did you have to go to the hospital?
Only work-related.
6.) Did you have any encounters with the police?
For the usual car-crashes outside my house. Only two so far this year have involved the police.
7.) Where did you go on vacation?
Oooh, well that's the doozy of course :-) A wee trip with touchdowns in Singapore, England, Spain, Malta, Germany, France and Switzerland. It was alright :-)
8.) What did you purchase that was over $500?
Oh dear -- A Laney Amplifier, a Cellphone, a surround-sound digital recorder, A Canon DSLR, a 27" monitor. Probably more. (all the flights for my trip of course)
I need to work on my thrift-skills.
9.) Did you know anybody who got married?
I was the bridesmaid (bridesman?) at Carey and Woody's wedding in February, Tish and Richard got married in April. That's all I can think of at the moment.
10.) Did you know anybody who passed away?
No.. I think so far this year I've had a reprieve.
11.) Have you run into anybody you graduated high school with?
Other than the ones I stay in touch with on a regular basis, I've caught up with two people this year that I hadn't seen since high school. One was completely random last weekend at Hanmer Swings, and the other was why I went to Germany.
12.) Did you move anywhere?
Nar.
13.) What sporting events did you go to?
Yeah, okay.
14.) What concerts/shows did you go to?
Shihad in July. Supergroove. Queens of the Stone Age and Smashing Pumpkins.
15.) Are you registered to vote?
Yes
16.) If so, did you do your patriotic duty on Nov. 8?
Yes, and I meant to on November 4th as well, but the fuckers didn't get around to sending me my absentee ballot until the week AFTER the goddamned election.
17.) Where do you live now?
In my Fea Street student flat. Where I've now officially lived longer than ANY other house in my entire life.
18.) Describe your birthday.
On day one of the Linux Conference in Melbourne. Rang it in with a group of very, very drunk Google employees. I came this close to talking them in to changing the Google logo to celebrate my birthday (it only would have been for the conference attendees). Later that day was the big conference dinner, where another google employee decided to give me lots of hugs and sing happy birthday to me in English, Spanish, French, and one or two other languages I can't remember now. Pretty awesome day all up :-D
19.) What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2008?
Not telling.
20.) What is one thing you regret from this year?
I started smoking again in the last few months, but stopped again now.
21.) What do you want for Christmas?
Mainly just for everything to go as well as it possibly can for my brother's wedding coming up.... it's sounding like it's going to be a good day.
22.) Any new additions to your family?
See above question -- getting my first sister-in-law in a few weeks.
23.) What was your best month?
September, every single goddamned day in September was the best of my life.
24.) What from pop culture will you remember 2008 by?
Dark Knight, WALL-E, Obama?
25.) How do you plan to ring in 2009?
I have absolutely no goddamned clue. Depends on what all my friends are doing in Nelson -- many of them have jobs that require them to to work New Years (I.E. in bands). Carey and Woody will be in Nelson though, so that'll be great. And maybe some family from USA will already be here at that point.
