I got a bollocking off Rich the other morning for being late... :(

But then, ysterday he went out of his way to proove to ignorant 16 yr olds that the song I had chosen was indeed a narrative song. Sometimes it's great being a "teachers pet" due to being older, wiser and a fan of their musical acheivements =D

shame he had ago at you, but maybe he sees talent in you, Music Teachers are always hardest on those they see real talent in....

i do envy you sometimes, id kill to be in that class. which song was it? and why where they arguing the fact if it was narrative?
besides narrative is such a ambiguious word, you can argue that one down to the end of time if you *really* want to, its not a clear line, look at me pretending i remember half my degree :P

It was "I don't like Mondays" by Boomtown rats. We were looking at narrative songs, and how they are structured, it's for composition, where we have to write our own narrative song. Said 16 yr old is an indie kid drummer who thinks he's gods gift and likes bands like the Kooks. I'm sure he did it JUST to piss me off and make out that I'm stupid or something.

Still, we had a huge debate, and i spent most of it sat there smirking cause I knew I was in the right.

And yes, some songs could be classed as narrative when they arnt *really* all that narrative. It's a fine line to draw. But either way, Rich was on my side and forced said kid to read the lyrics to the song lol...
