Last night my friend ML pointed out that the resistance against the proposed changes to last call are a bit silly, and I couldn't agree more. I found it particularly funny to read the FB group (

I remember someone inviting me to join the "last call" group, and I ignored/deleted the request. Not only because I don't live in St. John's anymore, but because it seemed like a waste of my brain. What is last call in St. John's? What is last call in Montreal? I don't even know, but I assume St. John's is later than Montreal. Like you said, people can easily adapt to going out earlier, and coming home earlier. Which is amazing, because the morning is the most beautiful time of day once you get accustomed to being awake for it. It boggles my mind to think, for example, that shows go on until, like, 2am in St. John's. Like you said, people mobilize for the dumbest crap.

Now here's the bitch in me: People can only tolerate the boring numbness by being half-asleep/drunk/hepped up on something, hence why there is serious objection. SNAP.

There's something people enjoy (in St. John's) about the night life thing which is very self-engrossing. It's, like, the later I am out, the cooler I am, or something. I guess that's possible to experience everywhere, but I seemed to have been able to get away from that attitude after moving to Montreal. There are other things to be doing. Simple things, but lovely all the same. There's a perfectly available time and place for everything, and making last call earlier is no big deal.
