Character's Name: Trish
Series: Devil May Cry
Timeline: Shortly after the events of the first game; perhaps a little into the events of the anime but has not met Lady yet.
Canon Resource Link: DMC Wikia
Personality: Trish can be best described in a summary of six words: beautiful, deadly, and efficient; cunning, loyal, and observant. The first three indicate her physical prowess as much as her mind’s precision. The last three describe her outward personality the best but of course there is much more to her than all that. Trish can at first glance appear to be callous and unforgiving, especially when she’s on a job. She tends to keep things under wraps at all times and hardly speaks even when spoken to. However, this is all blown out of the water once she gets into things a little more deeply. Her mouth can be as spicy and teasing as a certain other devil hunter only she can manage to be much more sophisticated about it when not actually being annoyed by said certain devil hunter. She has a fiery disposition in both the heat of physical battle as well as in a heated discussion. Yet still she is well known for keeping her head about her at all times.

Her efficiency with hand-to-hand combat and twin firearms is only superseded by her knack for solving mysterious problems. Rather than go in all guns blazing she can just as easily take her time to look up information at the library or study an opponent from afar to discover their weaknesses. This does not mean she is incapable of acting impulsive. In fact it was this impulsive nature that caused her to betray her demonic master and ally with Dante, from then onwards becoming as human as psychologically possible if not biologically. Though it is as if the hardwiring of her initial reason for being created has never been undone and as such her deceptive nature has become her ultimate ally in some cases. She uses her cunning nature to deceive and infiltrate higher orders that deal in the occult and demonology in order to complete more complicated missions. And yet she still loves a good brawl as much as the next rowdy fighter if for no other reason than to test a person.

Trish is loyal to those that gain her trust. Though she does not have many friends the few she does have could be considered extremely lucky. She would never betray them-having done this once before in her lifetime she knows exactly what it can do to a person and would never wish it upon those she loves-and it would take a lot to shake her faith in a person. (Considering the one person she trusts in the world above all others could be considered a little “iffy” in the first place I think this shows this best of all.) The she-devil could be considered very observant. Not only does this apply to her ability to solve tricky puzzles but it applies to her knowledge of the inner workings of people. She can generally tell what another person wants or how they’ll act to a certain situation. She then uses this information in junction with her deceitful nature to get something she wants or to complete a mission if that person is “on the wrong side” or otherwise stay on someone’s good side if they’re a friendly face. Or just push someone’s buttons.

Trish’s life borders on the edge of “all work makes life dull” and “there’s no such thing as too much fun.” What she does as a professional job is what she loves. Perhaps it has something to do with her demonic side-her job is to hunt and kill; or perhaps she really just hates that she is in fact a demon and can never truly be human-her prey is solely that of the demonic kind. She will ruthlessly hunt those of a demonic nature, especially demons and devils themselves, but also any human that uses demonic powers for ill. She is dead serious in what she does. Yet she also makes sure to have fun in life in her off time. She does normal activities just like any normal person such as shopping for clothes, going to restaurants, and even hanging out with her few friends when she wants to see them. She prides herself on her humanity as it was something given and taught to her rather than an innate substance to her being. This also means she will do just about anything for Dante (just short of break her own personal rules and beliefs). The fact that she was created to look specifically like someone’s mother is still not lost on her and though she is not really the motherly type herself she can still be very patronizing in a similar fashion as one might be to their elder children. Overall Trish is exactly what she was meant to be simply now with a human heart: a tenacious warrior of exacting strengths, little weakness of the physical kind, and deadly precision all packaged within a deceitfully beautiful shell.

What your character can offer: Trish is a devil. She has never been human and never truly will ever be human, although she does a very good impression and has all the emotional contexts of one. The point is she was created by the Lord of the Underworld for one purpose: to be not only a lure, but a powerful opponent to anyone in her master’s way. Her demonic powers include mastery of the lightning element, enhanced strength, agility, speed, and endurance, a rapid regenerative healing ability, and intense combat skills. She is especially fond/good with melee attacks, preferring to get in close and kick ass with hand-to-hand combat if possible. She is also exceptional at sword-work, and is progressing nicely in handgun usage. She’s not entirely good with any other set of firearms though. She tends to think things through a lot better than her fellow devil hunter Dante and has been known to look up information on an opponent or peculiar event before rushing in recklessly without any prior knowledge. She is reasonably intelligent, and especially knows the occult and supernatural fairly extensively.

What items will they be bringing with them? Luce and Ombra, her personal twin pistols similar to Dante’s own, and the Devil Arm sword called Sparda. Luce and Ombra are basically modified M1911 pistols with personal customization work done on them; Sparda is the true form of the Force Edge, a demonically created sword that holds the power of the devil Sparda within it.

Third-Person Sample: Trish hopped upwards and backwards out of the way of an incoming bolt of magical power. The almost lightning like attack annoyed her a bit considering her own mastery truly was of the real lightning element. The black energy had no right to mimic that look as it lanced out towards her in the vain effort of hitting her. She landed a few yards away on a higher outcropping of rooftop ledge from the one she’d started out on.

“You’re going to have to be quicker than that,” the she-devil called back down to the being who initiated the black bolt attack. Her voice was more flat than teasing but still a bit of that snappy flavor ended up in her voice despite herself. She really couldn’t help it if a little of Dante rubbed off on her though she mostly pretended that she didn’t exactly approve of it.

The demon possessed form below gave her no answer but simply “replied” with another bolt of black energy. Again the nimble femme fatal jumped out of the way in an easy display of grace and agility. The entity below grew annoyed with all the dodging and began to unleash a torrent of black energy at the female opponent. Eventually Trish grew tired of all the quick flitting about and decided to do something about it.

“Enough.”

She aimed a silver pistol at the form still below her with a serious look on her face. An electrical glow suffused with the pistol, yellow lightning coursing around her arms as she charged a deadly set of energy into her next shot. The devil unleashed one last bolt of energy but Trish’s poise did not falter. Her aim was dead on and the form fell over clutching its chest.

The shot was purposefully not fatal.

But the demonic aura was that was earlier infused with the host form was now completely gone.

Trish hopped off her current perch and landed down below with the being curled up in agony. “You’ll live because I want you to. You’ll live out the rest of your life because you deserve to think about what it was you sacrificed in order to gain the power that could not help you, did not allow you to win today. You’ll live-and then you’ll go to Hell.” She turned her back on the man and stood there for a moment as she lifted a pair of sunglasses to her face. She paused. “People like you…don’t deserve to call yourself human.”

And then she simply walked away.

First-Person Sample: Dear Dante:

I wish you would stop trying to get me to come back by sending me your overdue tabs-especially the pizza bills. What did I tell you about all that pizza? It’s going to kill you one day! Or at the least make you the most fat and undesirable hunter on the face of the planet. Stop it!

…And don’t even get me started on all those sundaes you line your stomach with on top of the pizza.

It’s kind of ridiculous you’re still acting like such a child on a daily basis. And my final decision still stands: I think we have more to offer working apart than together. Don’t take it the wrong way, I still adore you to pieces-but I’m going to end up tearing you to pieces if I have to put up with your childishness on such a normal basis. You understand, don’t you?

Look. I’ll come for a visit soon. Just as soon as I finish this latest job. How’s that?

Yours truly,
-Trish
