I'd like to point out that I used to feel exactly the same way about religion until I discovered reform judaism.

I still feel exactly the same about the others, though.

I'd like to know who wrote this because they don't define the word "religion". (see http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_defn.htm) Which definition are they using to back up their claims on "religion"?

The way it's written, it seems like it's saying Christianity = religion, and if that's what the person means, they don't know the facts about Christianity at all. In fact, which one religion teaches all of those things?

spirituality = belief coming from within yourself
religion = belief coming from being told by others what to believe vs belief that comes from finding the answers in your own heart.

belief is seeing.

Actually, if you look up the word religion in the dictionary, you will not find that it says, "being told by others what to believe". So as I thought, the definition given in your list above and the definition you give is wrong. And if you look at the definitions of "spritual" or "sprituality" in the dictionary, you will also find that it does not say, "belief coming from within yourself".

Religion is more like spirituality organized (organized beliefs that are shared among many people). It is not about being told by others what to believe. Having religion doesn't mean you're not choosing your beliefs either. You're choosing to believe in that belief system (if that makes any sense.) And many people who would be labeled "Muslim" or "Buddist" or "Christian" did find the answers in their own heart and believe through seeing for themselves. Spirituality is part of any religion.

So again, what religion or religions are teaching the above?

It isn't in referance to ANY religion. Spirituality comes from within. Following a religion comes from using your mind to interpret 'great leaders' and what they are trying to teach us, claiming there are rules to finding god, which people through history have tried to tell us, believing there are commandments in how to find God, not realizing they were initially intended to be guidelines, helpful hints, etc. You dont HAVE to BE a certain way to find God. You only have to uncover the truths buried in your own heart.

Hi Elisha,
It's me, Trey(Krem). That's one heck of a post, and there's definitely a lot of meat to digest in that. I'm not sure if you'd be open to it, but I'd really like to get into the points that are brought up here. Would it be ok if I give a kinda lengthy response to the original post?

Well, I ran into a problem - it's too long to post. If you want, I could email it to you. Otherwise, it'd take about 4 posts to get it up here.

Hi Elisha,

Beth (from #1) stopped by our house last night around 11:30/midnight asking if we knew your phone number because she said she heard a baby crying for quite a while. She thought it was coming from the direction of your house and wanted to make sure that everyone was ok and that the baby wasn't alone.

I was asleep, Miguel just passed this on to me this morning. Just wanted to let you know and make sure that everything's ok.

Oh my goodness.... it's the baby monitor... it's right next to our window iin our room. Taylor has been teething really bad the past few nights, in fact right now.. She started sleeping in her own room a few months ago, and usually does fine, but the past few nights shes had us coming in and out of her room, and the more we do that the more she'll cry because she expects us to come back into her room... I'm going to call beth right now if her number is on the Granby heights website. Thanks for letting me know, and I'm really sorry to have worried anyone. I assure you Taylor is fine, she's just been a little grumpy lately.

I'm glad to hear that everything's ok.

Miguel said he saw that your car was there, so he wasn't too worried, but he did say that he could hear the baby crying when he opened our door.

I just wanted to let you know because he said that Beth said that if it continued she was going to "call someone" and I wanted to give you a heads up!
