More than you ever wanted to know about The Wind Waker!
So, uh, I sat down at 2 a.m. and typed out a brief-ish canon summary for Tetra. It covers the important stuff, but if I made some vague reference that confused you, feel free to ask. It's got some spoilers, so be careful.
The world in Wind Waker is composed entirely of islands (at least, that’s all that’s visible on the map), with only a few being inhabitable. Only a few are actually inhabited by intelligent life (Windfall, Dragon Roost, Outset, Forest Haven, Tingle’s Island). The others are either infested with monsters or unfriendly pirates or they have Great Faeries hidden somewhere. There is no navy, so the pirates are pretty much free to do whatever the hell they want. Religion is a bit unclear, but there are definitely gods floating around the place. They appear to be mostly forgotten, and lumped in as faerie tales along with the whole Hero of Legend thing. They totally exist though!
Tetra’s age is never really stated, but she’s described as ‘young’. Even though she looks prepubescent, I’m betting she’s somewhere in the early teens. She’s already a captain of her own ship, with six crewmates. In general, she has a good relationship with them, and they all look up to her even though she’s much younger than most of them. Because her parents died when she was young , they’re kind of her replacement family. She’s not afraid to tell them when they’re being totally stupid though.
Although she’s portrayed as a ‘good pirate’ she’s not a hero-ish kind of person. She’s not the type to do heroic deeds without a handsome reward, although she can be guilted into things. She does try to put up a tough front, but she is a bit of a softie. She can be crass and tactless at times, I think her first words to Link were something like “What the hell are you wearing?” ...although it was E-rated. Anyway, she’s not nice.
There’s also this thing where she’s Princess Zelda. The Tetra I’m playing doesn’t know this, but it is sorta an important detail, so.
And for reference, she looks like this. As you may notice, she’s really short, like, three feet tall or something.
