I agree! where's the fun in being old and getting treated like shit in a nursing home. When I'm old I'm going to get drunk and be a total pain in the arse! hehe x
I agree that it is a pessimistic view, but I think you've gotta take it into context. If you get to 70 and still have all your facilities intact and a loving family and circle of friends then you may indeed wish to live on longer because you're enjoying life, why end it? If however you got to that age and completely lost your mind and your family abandons you in a nursing home then maybe then you gotta think about where you're going.
So whilst in some ways I'd agree with that, in others I can't agree. Context is everything, and it sounds like they're fucking miserable anyway!
Laila was saying that last night as well. The number isn't important, it's quality of life that concerns me.
I think the point the person was trying to make is that we're too concerned with "oh, this will increase your chance of cancer, but this will decrease it", when we should just enjoy life and not consume anything in excess.
