Notes from 4/5 Studio Talk: AM to PM
We ran out of time towards the end of the AM look, so the last bit was very rushed. This was the first time they'd done this, and everyone in the room was getting constant individual attention at pretty much every step. Two looks were done simultaneously, with each trainer explaining each step. This is a write-up of my notes. Note that most products have alternatives that may be better for some people, such as Strobe Lotion instead of Strobe Cream.
SKIN:
*Remove existing makeup with cleansing wipes.
*Spray Fix+ on your face
*190: apply Studio Moisture Fix. Use the 190 (which is synthetic, so the bristles won't absorb product) to avoid getting skin oils and bacteria from your fingers into your moisturizer.
*190: apply FAST Eye Cream for puffiness & discoloration. Can use it on your lid in addition to under your eye if it's skin tone is uneven.
*190: apply Strobe Cream as a highlight in a C-shape starting above eyebrows and ending under eyes. It can also be used down your nose or to highlight other locations as wanted.
*190: apply Prep & Prime Face Protect SPF 50 in a starburst pattern. "This is the difference between JLo's skin and yours."
*Spray Fix+ again for moisture if you wish.
FOUNDATION:
Always break the foundation into your brush before applying it to your face. This involves wiping it back and forth a few times so the product is in the brush, not in a big gob on top of the bristles, and will prevent you from applying way too much product in an uneven coat. Apply liquid or powder (they didn't get into setting a liquid foundation with powder, contouring, or bronzers due to time).
*For LIQUIDS the 187 (two-tone) brush will offer a thicker coverage, with the long bristles applying product and the shorter black ones 'buffing' it to a good finish; the kabuki brush cuts the coverage level. If you'd like a thinner formula try spraying Fix+ into a dab before picking it up with your brush. You can also use something like Strobe Cream for this. Apply in a starburst pattern. Apply concealer after your liquid foundation, so you don't rub it away.
*For POWDERS kabuki brushes offer fuller coverage while the 187 cuts the amount applied. Apply concealer before powder.
CONCEALER:
*Apply around your mouth to create a crisp lip edge. Also apply wherever your skin is still pink or discolored, such as above eyebrows, under eyes, even on upper lids.
*For a problem spot, break product into a smaller brush then stipple the concealer on by bouncing the brush on the spot & around it as well. This applies more product to that spot as opposed to just moving everything around.
*Spray Fix+ if you'd like.
