For consideration in ze game, I give you Eddie Kendricks "Goin Up In Smoke", from his 1976 album of the same name. I have quite an obsession with this song. It lies somewhere between soul and disco, and the whole premise (yet upbeat) is about the world going to hell-in-a-handbasket! But hey, as long as we can dance through the apocalypse, everything is going to be OK, right? Eddie was in The Temptations and did have a few hits while working his solo career, but this song seems to be below the radar, and is one of my personal faves.
