buh. nobody does this thing (lj/this comm)anymore; how'd you find this comm?
do either the first one or the second two and i'll be happy.
I appreciate a good lyric as much as anyone. Tell me a story about the best night of your life using at least one lyric from every band listed in your top ten. I don't care if you use APA or MLA citation, but cite it in such a way that I can see what you did there. This has the possibility to be a huge trainwreck, but a good story - even one that is poorly told - will save it.
top five songs about beverages. you are only allowed one alcoholic drink, no water, and the same drink cannot be the focus of two different songs.
since you opened that can of worms, top five bands/artists other than patti smith whose names benefit from the addition of the word "fuckin'"
"milk," pain "the barley bree," robin laing (1 alcoholic beverage) "juice party," u-men "jimmie jones," the vapors (indirectly about kool aid) "blob of cum," sockeye
and fuck you for disqualifying water, because "cool cool water" by the sons of the pioneers deserves to be on that list.
I have actually taken your first request under !*serious consideration, but am waiting for that sweet moment during which I have more than 10 hours straight off from work (and have no weird family/life obligations pulling me away from the all-important Internet Business.)
Your #3 for the #8 made me kind of itchy twitchywroteJuly 14 2011, 05:50:08 UTC
All of those people are worth far less than what they get, and what they get is a whole lot.
I love Loretta Lynn and Eshete, though not enough to redeem Hella, for whom I not only have a strong dislike, but are actually one of about 10 bands whose appeal baffles and escapes me to such a point I wonder how anyone can tell any of their treacly buttwhistling "songs" apart.
So, probably not. I don't care, nothing happens here anymore.

My whole application probably wasn't as well thought-out as it could have been (ha, right?), but, I don't know. I think maybe the a lot of #3s get the wrong sort of what they get, like popularly they aren't worth the grammies and the salvating fans, but critcially there are things they do well?
I guess I just don't get the hate.
"Treacly buttwhistling" is an amazing phrase. I like the album for right now, but maybe just because I don't know what I could be listening to?
I don't know, my favorite apps for music are still liamtheruiner's, myglock_yrface's, grouchetta's, vogdoid's, antitype's and hippo_crate's. If someone asked me what you just did, that's what I would say. It's all more sonically interesting than the Arcade Fire or Hella by a mile, to me. Your mileage, naturally, may vary.
Thank you for telling me that. It's what I'm looking for, how to find music that *is* more sonically interesting and, I guess, more worth my while and attention than a lot of what I've found so far.
There's a lot out there, and that's why I showed up here (that and maybe to get my ass kicked, too? eh.)
I had kinda locked down and backed away from LJ for the most part, except for a few music clearinghouse type communities, but they overwhelm me with the amount of stuff, so I went wandering around looking for somewhere where people actually have reasoning and history behind what they like.
I see that it is pretty dead, yeah, but, hey, you never know.
I live in South Carolina, home of Joe Wilson, mosquitos, and swimmable air. (The heatwave has me bitter.)
I hear ya about locking down and backing away. I stopped downloading music for a while (long story), then got my laptop stolen (ugh), and once I tried downloading music again from soulseek, I'd lost all my contacts and it works for shit. Everyone torrents these days, but I don't want to download every musician's every piece of work ever made. Ugh. Frustrates me.
Ugh, I feel you. I live in Atlanta, and while the milder winters are nice, the summers are nearly unbearable. Fortunately I'm out of country for the entire month of July, so I can avoid it for a while.
I am so incredibly envious of your escape. We've had several 95 days, then a few high-80s days (I thought we'd escaped), only for more 95 days to follow. I wish I were anywhere cooler than here (even the polar regions, as long as I had the right fur-lined suit...)

This place is pretty much dead so I don't know how much you'll get out of it honestly.
Whereabouts are you in the southern US?
