Dear Streitz Matzo

Fuck you very much for neglecting to put on your label that you include vegetable shortening in your Moonstrip Onion & Poppyseed matzo crackers. Apparently you feel that you are above the American FDA law and can just list things willy nilly as you like ( Read more... )

Wow, I definitely think you should at least call them and tell them they need to do something about it. They have to put that shit in their ingredients. A lot of people have allergies, that's fucked up.

I sent them an email yesterday asking if soy was in the product at all. If I don't hear from them I'll call. By law they aren't required to list soy lecithin or soy oil because "there isn't enough soy protein to cause an allergic reaction". Of course, if you research those two and allergic reactions, you'll find that the majority of those who are allergic have had severe reactions to both. Shortening however is required to be put on their label.

Eating is like Russian Roulette for me. So frustrating.

Oh wow...are you OK?? I hope you are feeling better now and

I have food allergies and I could not get along very well if something was mislabeled like that. Don't they know this is how law suits get filed?

I'm doing a bit better now--didn't eat last night because I still felt sick. Would love to stay home today as I'm beyond exhausted but I can't. :(

IKR?! What food allergies do you have? The only push forward in allergy labeling has been in Canada, where a little girl recently (in the past 5 years) died from cross contamination at her school cafeteria. Unfortunately in the USA, soy is a government subsidized project so they took over farming and thus have put it in absolutely everything. It's in products that don't even need soy or extra protein etc.

Totally agree, I might have to take this up with a lawyer or at the very least, notify the government somehow.

Is allergy labeling where you live better than that? I seriously want to move because I can't take this country anymore but I know most places I want to move to, their labeling is worse than ours. :\

Oh my goodness. I'm glad you're ok!! <3
I think you need to call them and raise hell. I had a friend who got so sick after taking theraflu and it turned out she was allergic. Her Mom was so pissed she had the company pay for the hospital bill and send her Amex giftcards.

I don't understand why companies can't just list stuff on their labels. I don't see why it's so difficult and things must be so *secretive*. Most people don't even look at labels anyway. If people are bothering to look, they probably have an important reason for checking, like allergies.
<3 you.
