There's an article in the last month's issue of Real Simple about how laying about, or 'doing nothing' was an Actual Thing To Do before puritanical work ethic was forced onto many a culture. 10 Ways to Enjoy Doing Nothing. http://tinyurl.com/mymznv
I read that piece about three weeks ago. Last weekend and the weekend before I was put to bed all weekend for health reasons - both body injuries and migraines. And I lay there worrying about how laundry wasn't getting done and the plants needed water. And then I said, "Now wait just a minute. You can't get up anyway. Why don't you just find a good book and alternate between reading and gazing out the window at the trees and the sky?!"
And suddenly I wasn't bedridden; I was Idling. In the right proper tradition of thousands before me. And it was lovely.
You tell it! You know, just 5 minutes ago I purchased a book to help me with my stress management and I think all of those points should go in it as well. :)
Woot! This is so beautiful! I love sleeping too, but what really makes my feet go EEE in ecstasy is the cat on my lap and oatmeal and a book. Man, I love the cat so much and he looks over his shoulder at me with recognition and we just fly. It's such a mutual delight! We ZING together, el gato and me. It's the best. Here is what is also good: water from a glass. Seriously. It is SO GOOD! Yay for things that are happy making!
