Mechanics of Flight

(( continuing from here*Upon saying "beast mode", Soundwave's transformation seemed similar to how it had been as a tape recorder, complete with how his mass also changed from large robot to smaller alt mode size. However, this time his legs folded up in front so his feet became the owl's clawed feet. His arms folded behind his wings, as the wings ( Read more... )

*She was curious about the actual alt mode appearance but decided to save any questions until later -- and then she couldn't help but startle when his attempt to fly ended with her being used as a perch. She blinks back at him, then watches as he attemps to make it to a different perch. Her expression is more sympathy than anything else, realizing she must have looked just as awkward running through the Ark in her new form. Remembering that, she glances over her shoulder and raises her own wings, with their pseudo-organic feathers.* *quietly* I guess I'll have to test these out at some point. *She frowns* Not looking forward to that...

*Looks at him again.* How are the diagnostic readouts on the wings? I don't know if mine are correct or not. They seem to be... Just similiar enough to my previous form's flight data for me to guess, but without the subsonics to propel...

*Soundwave tilts his head again, hearing everything she had said. But rather than unnerve her any further by replying telepathically, rather than hoot like the owl he was, he decided to go back to robot mode.

He leapt off the back of the chair while dictating the Predacon designated passcode, and transforms.*

The flight biomechanics indicate that lift and thrust are achieved by an undulating wing stroke. I assume the angle that each wing is poised also enables navigation and speed.

*hestitates, then asks* Have you achieved this yet?

I haven't tried. I'm still adjusting to the concept of walking on all fours..rather than driving on them. >_<;;

*She glances around.* I doubt it would be good for me to practice in here. ...I'd rather wait, anyway...

*Nods, understandng her plight to some degree as well. She still seemed uncertain about something. He steps closer to her, wondering if knowing more about the "why" would help put her at ease.*

I have recieved further information regarding the disturbance. The Autobot Skids had been experimenting with a Trans-Warp device, on Dinobot Island. Another one, Jinx, had caused the device to react adversely. They are working toward a solution now.
