I was going to update this livejournal for the first time in months, but I have no idea what to say. Katie Zimolzak says to make writing a habit, and to write a little bit of something every day, but I have no idea what I'm supposed to be saying, so I guess I'll just muse on my life ( Read more... )

when you say it like that... lorienelfstar September 27 2006, 14:02:29 UTC
i think that writing-as-habit business is out of context. we were probably discussing how you (for some reason) think you're a bad writer, and how if you wrote a set amount of words every day (no matter what they are...just do stream-of-consciousness or word association), you'll start to notice patterns or images or other stuff coming up that you wouldn't initially think was so prominent in your mind. me, i write about the water and the sky a lot when that happens....

and all i can say about "*almost* entirely unobtainable" is WELL IF YOU DON'T *DO SOMETHING* THAT ALMOST IS GOING TO DISAPPEAR! if i'd settled for almost entirely unobtainable, i would never have gone on the best dates in my life this summer because it would have ended when i was too lame to even say goodbye properly. (please ignore the fact that "the best dates in my life" is an easy task to qualify, as i have only ever been on 2-4 others.)

also, please ignore that i used the word "wrote," which should actually be "write." m.a. candidate.

Yes, you're right, that was the context of the discussion, and NO I will not do anything, because I am very content with my current status which is "admiring from afar," THANKS.

admiring from afar, although it can feel pleasantly good in that butterfly-belly type way, comes with so much anxiety of "could i? what if?" and also, it doesn't get you "conjugation lessons."

I don't think this will make you feel better, but your open letter made me laugh out loud. Ah, black humor.

Haha, no, I'm glad it made you laugh, and I wasn't feeling too bad anyway...that's just my bleak cynicism shining through.

You need to accept this basic fact: bus schedules mean nothing. They're just there to give this aura of organization, when really the bus is going to show up when it feels like it, which is always, ALWAYS at least 15-20 minutes after you begin waiting for one, no matter what time you get to the bus stop.

Fuck the CTA busses. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the fact that the 147 runs me directly between my door and work with very little walking in between, but that's when it decides on showing up. I've waited 45 minutes for it once.

It's a frustrating bus, but nothing is ever as bad as the 36 bus. That is the worst.

Yeah, update more often. I haven't talked to you guys in a while and I'm curious what's going on. And tell that BFF biznatch of mine to update too.
