I don't know why the Peace Corps office is updating my application status at 3:00 in the morning, but bitches, guess what:

I am MEDICALLY CLEARED. After every test in the world, after every vaccination in the world and every pinch and poke and measure, I am officially declared healthy enough to serve in a third world country for 27 months ( Read more... )

Let me be the first to congratulate you! WOOOOOOO!!!

Since my Grandmother is from the Ukraine, I will definitely send all vibes towards that region of the world. GOOD LUCK!

Thank you!!

I'm really hoping I get to go there. I don't know, maybe it's because I love Carol of the Bells so much.

Yay! That's very exciting. Indeed, the smallpox vaccine BLOWS. I wouldn't get it unless they require you too. Not to scare you, but my (older) brother in the Navy had to get one and it leaves an open sore in your arm for like a week.. and his didn't heal like it was supposed to and it was not a fun time. But I suppose it's better than contracting smallpox.

On that note - merry christmas and happy new year!!

Haha, I know, my mom has already warned me quite a bit about it. In addition to possibly contracting smallpox through cross-contamination into the eyes, you're also not allowed to be around geriatrics, pregnant women or children! But it's required, so I have to get it.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too!

You know, that's not a bad excuse for the rest of us not to be around children... "I just had my smallpox vacine, so I can't be around children" Got a nice ring to it.

Oh yeah- Congrats on the Corp stuff! Everyone that I've talked to has said that it's a defining event in their lives.

GUUUUUTES!

why didn't i see you whilst you were in jackson? i may be coming to chicago before i head back to MO, and i will call if i do. we will drink cocktails and partake in the joys of male strippers to celebrate a) your peace corps victory; b) my completion of my first semester of graduate study; and c) our freedom from the lameness that is embodied in maleness (and quite literally and specifically, in male strippers).

(strippers optional.)

KATIIIIIIIIEEEE!

You didn't see me because I was home for all of like 3 nights, and the only time I spent with my friends was to give Kellie and Cory their shit. COME TO CHICAGO. Give me forewarning and I will get time off work. We WILL drink cocktails and I am okay without the strippers but whatever, and yes, we shall celebrate everything.

i may be coming to chicago some time this week. driving, because i'm too self-centered to take a train. and because i have a craving for some gutes and eric.

Fuck yes.

I am also too self-centered to take the train, but do it anyway. I just lay across all the seats and pretend like I'm asleep so no one sits next to me.

Oh, it wasn't a big deal. I wanted to know if you had Tom Riley's phone number because Jon was in Chicago and I figured they'd be hanging out, and Jon wasn't answering his phone. Turns out Tom is in Jackson and Jon was just in before he flew to Pasadena.

That said, I totally called when it was like 12:30 Eastern Time. Not THAT late.
