Brendan/Kara probably takes secon... thi... is a very messed up ship, although actually less so than many in this movie. Hence why I love it so much ( ... )

YESSSSSS. I see Kara as someone who will always have a piece of Brendan and will always be just a little bit ahead of him because of it, and he hates that about her, and your thoughts are just so PERFECT, ack. Their power games are the greatest thing, and I think he knows at least subconsciously that the odds are pretty much always going to be against him when it comes to her. His relationship with Emily wasn't about power, and with Laura it's much more ambiguous wrt who has the upper hand and when they're even playing vs. being genuine, but there are no illusions regarding Kara. <3 <3 <3

AND BLONDIE/AMBER OH MY HEART. Girls girls girrrrrrrrrrrrrrls. Can I just borrow your headcanon forever? Because GIRRRRRRRRRRRLS.

Ohhh yeah - I mean, I think he mostly feels that he can stay out of her influence in the time of the movie, but he definitely can't put one over on her, not until that one thing with the mirror that's really nothing but brute strength and more ruthlessness than he expected (and boy is that stunt going to bite him in the ass one of these days, I have to say). And when they were together she was definitely lording it over him, maybe - looking at her current freshmen - almost in a BDSM sense? (Which... actually, that would be interesting. On multiple levels. /tangent) And you're right, no illusions about her.

(Brendan/Emily had all kinds of fucked up power elements in there, though.)
