And oh Brendan is so over his head you could stand on his shoulders and still drown, and that is exactly how he likes it. I actually kind of wanted to poke at the implications this might have on the dynamic between him and Emily, if this was his first real lasting relationship and kind of his model for how things worked, only very clearly not how things are "supposed" to work, and how things with him and Emily would look different if he's just kind of desperate to give her anything she wants but doesn't know how to ask for her to tell him.
