Girl, Interrupted

Why was I born in the 80s? I WANNA BE BORN IN THE 20s DAMN YOU. This era sucks. I don't like any of it. I want to sit in my living room with my record player listening to some Judy Garland with my tea in a living room with patterned wallpaper, just thinking about what I will make for supper for my perfect husband. HA! That is so cliché, isn't it? ( Read more... )

Jessica, NEVER will you be trailor trash! You're worth so much more! I totally beat you! It's 4:44 A.M. I'm bored and reading your entry actually made me miss you a hell of alot. Jess, you have one of those distinct personalities, there's no one out there like you, you are 16 ... (OMFG It's your birthday August 8th!!! OUUUU!) and have a better understanding of who you really are moreso than most people I know. Even though we don't talk all that often, know that you actually do have a place in my heart. I know this sounds crummy and you're probably saying to yourself "He's just saying this for show." But really, every time we hung out I felt your presence over-ruling mine and anyone else's there. You're awesome Jess, know that. Alright, now I'M WRITING A FREAKING NOVEL. All this to say "Great entry Jess, your personality shines through your writing, I love it. You're a great writer, moreso than me, I envy you!" MUAH! Ciao Jess!

I know you posted this like weeks ago, but I totally agree with you on wishing you were born in a different time period. I don't think it's so much that you don't appreciate the women's movement, but that at sometime during all that gaining of our equal rights, we stopped being women . There was an innocence to women, and we were cherished more as individuals. Men respected women more, in some degrees, during that time. I don't know if that makes sense. I hope it did.

(Sorry for putting my two cents) I agree, to a certain degree, I think it's more like women respected themselves more, they had nothing hanging out, they were subtle and a bit more classy. Then again, there were provocative women also so we can't sum it all up in one package "This was "woman" in the 20's". So I don't know.
