The last time she saw him there was blood on her lips and a twinkle in his eye.
It was there she had left him, rushing off for her shift at Gran's diner. There wasn't much time for niceties, she had told him, grabbing her shirt off the chair as she rushed out of his room. She heard his adament protests follow her down the hall but all she could do was laugh, slipping on the shirt at the last possible second and tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear. Knots took time to undo and she was already running late but she had promised to return, eventually. Ruby wasn't one to throw away something she wasn't quite done with, nor leave it out for very long.
Despite the heat rolling in with every person coming and going, Ruby kept her smile painted fresh for all the see. She wasn't about to give off any tell tale sign of where her thoughts actually lie, back in bed with a leather jacket wrapped around her chest and their legs tangled up in the sheets. Just the thought alone of knowing he would still be there when she got off work was enough to drive the heat up, sending a small shiver down her spine. Heading back towards the kitchen, Ruby fingered a hole in her uniform where a button had gone missing. It had taken her breath away when he pulled her to him, gripping her hips as she spilled into his lap. It was just a delivery she had been given to by Gran when she knocked on his door that night. No one was wise to the feel of his breath on her neck as his teeth worked their way down her shirt, undoing each button so slowly to the point it was painful. She hadn't been able to show as much restraint, ripping the rest of her shirt open as she clawed at his own. His hair knotted in her fingers as she gripped him tightly, wrapping her legs around his waist when he moved them to the bed. Neither one wanting to let go for even a moment, skin touching skin as they fought to get closer than they thought possible.
The bell at the front pulled Ruby from her thoughts, reminding her she where she was as she straightened her uniform and turned with another megawatt smile on her face which promptly fell as she saw who walked in the front door. His eyes were kept guarded, looking at everyone and everything but her, or so it seemed. She forgot to breath, cursing mentally for having not made the knots too tight, having left his shirt unripped, and having to imagine what might have been going through his head also. Despite her panic a small note of satisfaction rose up in her chest as she saw the scratches on his neck were still there and the tell tale stain of blood red lipstick that still lingered on his lips.
He didn't sit in her section, instead opting for a booth in the back that was Denise's area. Ruby absentmindedly bit at her nails as the perky blonde bounced over, clearly giving him an eyeful of her heavily accented front section as she read off the specials. Her mouth stilled when he looked up and stared right at her, piercing her with his blue eyes but still giving away nothing. But there was something in them, aside from the nonchalent attitude he carried around like a backpack - she saw a spark of something they had created the night before and she smiled. Never once looking away from him, her eyes blazed with desire for a repeat preformance, that is if he could handle it. The moment seemed to go on forever, sucking all the air out of the room as her heart pounded in her chest.
Finally Denise bounced her way between them, cutting off the electricity that ran through her veins and she was able to breath again, turning to grasp the counter. Before she could recover fully, she felt a gaze fall upon her and her mind snapped back to last night. His hands on her hips pulling her closer to him while her lips were on his neck, grazing sharply to the point where she drew blood. Just a small cut, but enough to let him know they were written in blood.
