So I flew up and took a $76 (!) cab ride to SoHo where I met up with Val and Matthew. We walked by the Scholastic Harry Potter event, but it was geared towards very young children (as opposed to being geared towards Harry Potter fans). And had a quick dinner at McDonald's before heading to the Barnes and Noble at Union Square (yes, the site of the Emma Goldman's famous speech that is chronicled in Ragtime the Musical), the place was packed, not long after we got there they exceeded the Fire Marshall's limit and had to stop letting people in. All of the events were on the second, third and fourth floors and were so packed that people were not being allowed up. We got thrown out of an elevator at one point. But finally we made it up the second floor where they had...BATHROOMS! So I got to hange into my Fleur Delacour costume. It was a cute costume that was pretty easy to make (especially since Mal's mom made my capelet for me- and did an awesome job). I did see some people looking at me like "who the hell is she supposed to be?", but I was asked to be in 3 pictures with people I didn't know who recognized me, and couldn't believe that others thought it wasn't obvious, so I was very happy. We got drinks with pop rocks in them, "magic potion" (the generic sort), took some pictures, and hung out. Eventually we made it up to the 4th floor where the guy who did all the book on tape readings was...READING! Not from the new book, of course. I wasn't that interested in it, since I can (and do) read books for myself. But finally it was book release time, we did a little countdown, and then stood around for about an hour, before we finally made it downstairs to the first floor and were allowed to stand in line for books - technically only Val was allowed to stand in the line since she had a gold bracelet and I had a red band which meant I wasn't supposed to be allowed to buy books till after all the gold band people had gone. And then finally we made it to the cash registers, and bought our books (they didn't check our wrist bands, so me having a red one was not a problem). Then we headed back to Val's house. Many subways later we got there. And read a little before heading to bed.
I finished the book Saturday night, the only thing I didn't like was the very end bit, which I think was uneccessary. Oh well.
Saturday I woke up, packed my stuff and Val, Matt and I took the subway to Penn Station and bought me train ticket. Much to my dismay the train did not leave from Platform 9 3/4. I suppose when that failed to happen I should have known getting on the train was a bad idea (I should have taken the flying car that surely was parked outside). But anyway, I took the train. And when we got near my stop the conductor ran through at the last minute saying that if we wanted to get off we had to be 10 cars ahead, so I jumped up with my purse and Harry Potter books and ran 10 cars, but I left my clothes under the seat. That kind of sucks. But today they called me to say they had found my bag and are going to ship it to me. Which is awesome, cause there's a pair of pants in there that I absolutely love, and my Fleur Delacour dress is very pretty.
Aside from the 2 above tales, my trip to NJ was pretty uneventful. My family wasn't able to irritate me into a nervous breakdown. And I didn't accomplish anything except getting my iPod replaced (Yey! iPod is back.)
Work was pretty good today. I have been having some issues with people, and those seem to be clearing up, mostly because I'm right and as that comes to light it will eventually be unavoidable. I love being right. Victory!
I think Bob will get here sometime today, but he doesn't seem to have done it yet. So maybe not.
